    "Bushwacker" vs. McCready

That would be a fun match to watch. Maybe put it on youtube some how to preserve a piece of pool history? Prayers said, I hope he is going to be ok. I used to collect old tournament programs and had the the McDermott Master ones as well. Gary won one of the events and placed high in another...

How to improve when you're already a great player

I think that you have to play as much competition as possible. One of the reasons that I feel that the Americans lag behind the Europeans in the Mosconi Cup is the lack of pressure competition on the 9 foot tables. You can practice all you want but getting in the tournament grease gains the...

Bergman vs. Deuel at BCAPL National Championships

I agree that 8-ball on a bar table is much more interesting due to the congestion. Corey has a great imagination and I enjoy watching him wade through the different options on getting out. Rotation on the other hand is much better on the big track.

Need tips / Advice about traveling to vegas and traveling with my cue 4 the 1st time.

I've flown with my cues a several times over the years. I use a hard case and zip it up in a sterling travel bag (I've used the porper several times before). I just make sure that I'm at the baggage carousel before they come out. Never had an issue except for the time I flew into New Jersey. I...

What do pool players write in their notebooks?

I've used a product in the past called the shot pad to note missed shots in competition to work on during practice. I'm guessing that they are doing the same. I've seen SVB practicing a shot over and over again. I'm assuming it's a shot that has given him some trouble in the recent past.

Question: tournament play for money or competition

For me, it's more about the competition but money does have some consideration. Some of my favorite tournaments don't even have money involved. There is a charity tournament held in my area once a year that is fun and competitive with the money going to different charities. They have a huge...

Article on "What's holding pool back"

Interesting article. The NFL could never sell a seat to a game live and still make billions because of the TV contract. It has been built up over the years. The key is that there is a collective organization that creates a viable product. With pool, there isn't one. In the past, others have...

    Tournament payouts

I wish it was more this way in our area. Many players won't play if such and such player is in the field. I'm old school and love it when the field is strong because that's how you improve. It's about instant gratification to many but it is also a reason their games stay stagnant.

    Tournament payouts

Sam, I think it depends on what you are wanting to accomplish. Generally, tournaments payout around 25% of the field. If you want bigger payouts which will result in better players then payout 10% of the field. If you want to have a fun tournament where some of the weaker players can sneak into...

    Ever Miss An Easy Shot

I remember having a sweat bet on an Efren and Earl match back in their heydays. I gave up a game on the wire going to 11 on Efren. He was on the hill and had an easy 8 ball and the 9 was in the middle of the table. I was dancing and the guy I was betting was crying behind me. Possibly the...

    Opinions on this book please

Thanks for the links. I found the old video and went back and watched it out of curiosity. It actually has some good info about 8 ball. It is designed, just as his book sounds like, for players in the skill level 3 - 6 APA range. Mr. Imler can play. Is he a champion? No, but in the video that I...
