    My Personal Challenge

I did the same thing. I needed 400 to buy a cue so I started with a 1000 and gambled my to 400 in no time at all. :) Seriously tho, it's not a bad idea, poker players have been building bankrolls for years this way, why not pool players! Good luck!

Getting money back into the sport - What is currently being done?

It's a difficult question that AZ has tried to answer in numerous threads. I've always thought that the quick solution is to band together current tournaments into a quasi tour with points and a players organization. CSI events, Turning Stone, US Open 9 ball, and others would comprise this...

    Dropping your elbow

He is talking about eye patterns. The thought is that most players look at the object ball last on the final stroke. There are some that look at the cue ball last after getting lined up during the hit stroke. Once you are lined up, you should be able to close your eyes and still make the shot...

    play safe or shoot?

I try to pick the option that will give me the best chance to win. Is it a safe or to shoot? Depends, if it's a 50/50 option I'll go for the shot. Sometimes I'll have a shot that I just don't have any confidence in shooting and I'll will look for a safety. That same shot I might shoot at a...

    value on older McDermett?

http://www.mcdermottcue.com/timecapsuled.php Usually the old D series are worth about what they sold new. I'm guessing around 350 - 400 but with the case and extra shaft maybe 500 range?

I don't consider pool on a bar table to be pool

Interesting topic. I for one enjoy watching and playing on the 9 footers. It's a different game than the bar tables. Longer shots with pressure are much more difficult on the big track. With that said, I can see the economic issues also involved. Where is the return of investment hosting a pro...

Best path to improvement...practice or competition?

The problem that I see with practicing for such a long stretch is the ability to maintain focus. I think you can do more harm than good if you just go through the motions without focus for hours upon hours. If you are matched up with someone, that focus is motivated by the match/money and could...

What separates the pros from each other?

I think it's the commitment to the sport. The top players take the game as a sport and put in the effort of continuing to work on their game. I've watched Shane shoot the same shot for an hour, I'm guessing that he had just missed it recently. Other players may have put in the hours earlier in...

APA regional decision, What's the call?

Yep if I remember correctly. You might have to call the foul before pocketing the last solid. In any case, it's a funny rule and I wouldn't be surprised if continuing to play the game in the OP original scenario would overrule the scratch on the 8 ball.

    Over-thinking and being Over-Techincal

Nice article, thanks for the link. I just played in a tournament over the weekend and had some of that muscle grid lock going on. It caused me to miss some key shots for a chance to do well. I wonder if my grip on the cue was tight? I should have checked it after missing but wasn't in the mood...

APA regional decision, What's the call?

APA can have some funny rules. It's been awhile since I've played, but I remember the rule where the incoming shooter shoots the wrong group and I as the opponent can wait until they continue until a time I choose to call them on it. If I don't call them on it, then they would win the game even...

Was Bugs Rucker onto something when he....

I'm with you in this camp. A great player can play with anything but if they played with the same cue, they might play just a touch better in the long run. It also might be a psychological thing, as when you buy a new cue your game seems to jump a ball for a few days. Just keep changing cues and...

    The best psr

Everybody even Efren has a pre shot routine. It's everything you do up till you strike the cue ball. Efren chalks his cue and then visualize his shot by doing an air stroke or two, and then gets down to his process. Watch any pro on youtube and they pretty much do the same thing each time they...
