To shoot like a pro, look like a pro

I hate to admit it but the OP does make some valid points. As far as his height, weight, and age specifications I think he his pulling stuff out of thin air. I believe that a player that is in better physical condition than his opponent has a slight edge. I believe that a younger player i.e. 25...

Cool new insert for Bucket Polisher:

Not sure could have been the adhesive that I used. Never tried carpet tape but velcro worked great. I'm out of the business now so I don't foresee building any ball cleaners in the near future for me.

Cool new insert for Bucket Polisher:

That's what I used. I was cleaning 100 sets of balls per week and noticed that the balls had some substance. Switching to velcro cleared up the issue and also makes it easier to change out the carpet. But it's possible that I used too much adhesive.

Cool new insert for Bucket Polisher:

I've built quite a few of these over the last 5 years or so and started using a spray on glue but found that it would seep through the carpet and on the the balls. Not sure if the hot glue would but I started using velcro to secure the carpet and works like a charm.

Using a B.R.A.C. Bank calculator during a tournament match?? Legal or no?

Meh, I started watching the video (Pool Sgt on BRAC) and fell asleep about a minute into an hour video. Use basic track lines and angle in angle out and adjust for speed and English presto solid kicking system. I've always felt slowing down your rhythm with some of these kicking systems can do...

Are we seeing the end of wood cues?

Meh, it's still the Indian and not the arrow. Maybe I could see top level pro's switching if it does offer a modicum of improvement but for the layman it is just great marketing to sell a product for 500 that has 25 in materials in it.

Mark Williams Teaches His Signature Underarm Shot

Years ago I knew a very good player from Iowa Dave Yeager use this quit a bit. He was tall and lanky but man could shoot.

    This is why Fargorate Fails...

Let's assume that there is a perfect handicapping system. Everyone is rated right where they are supposed to be. Then trying to get better is mute as the tournament would be basically a coin flip. Why put in the time to get better when it won't help you win? That is one of the reasons that our...

    Masters, triangle chalk becoming outdated

I think I'm going to give it a try after listening to one of the announcers of the Mosconi Cup talking about that it helps with skids or kicks as the Europeans call it.

Flying commercial airline, it appears I'll need to check my cue as baggage and cannot "carry-on". Thoughts/options?

I've flown a few dozen times over the last 20 years with my cues without too much problems. Just got back from Puerto Rico. I just use a good hard case this time an Instroke 2x4 southwest that I picked up. I have a Sterling travel case that I put it in. Really haven't any serious issues other...

What 90's pro from TV am I thinking of?

First thought was Nick Varner just based of the physical description minus the dark hair with balding :)

APA inks deal with Diamond tables

I doubt that they will because it's about catering to the lower handicaps which I understand as is their bread and butter. They do a masters format but don't get enough teams for a league so you can usually go to Vegas to play in the masters either given a spot or win a tournament with 3 or 4...

    Mosconi Cup Team - USA

The first 3 players are automatically picked through rankings with SVB, Sky, and Oscar making the team. Opinions on the next 2 which will be Captains picks? I'm going with Tyler Styer and Shane Wolford. But gotta give a huge shoutout to Greg "Spanky" Hogue on his performance and a shot at the...

Is it possible to play good pool with a tilted head - eyes not level?

I'm left eye dominant and right handed and played for several years with my head tilted not even knowing that I was doing it till I videoed myself. I made the change to straighten my head and I think it helps with perception. Whitey Walker is a good player that tilts his head.

The Today Show on Sept. 2

Meh about the pool shark reference. His nickname is after the biggest and meanest shark of them all :) This sport will thrive when you can create audiences that watch it. In all of the years of being around the game, I'm more optimistic now than ever before with Matchroom, CSI, and Predator...

Guided Tour of Dr. Dave's Pool Room Studio

Awesome tour thanks for the vid. I really liked that you have Robert Byrnes table so cool! When I was a kid, his book The Standard Book of Pool and Billiards was my bible to the game.
