    Remind me again why?

As to the OP original question, it's economics. Pool in the US doesn't really have a brand to sell. I think that pool can be successful it just needs to be marketed differently and with some organization. Why would a company want to sponsor pool? The numbers don't add up yet to make it a...

When you get down on the shot is your back hand supposed to be directly over your back foot?

Not necessarily as everyone has different body types, wingspans, etc. The goal is to develop a repeatable stroking motion. I'm guessing that you are talking about the placement of the left foot (right hand player)? The more closed is a bar players stance? and the more open is a snooker stance?

When you get down on the shot is your back hand supposed to be directly over your back foot?

The clearance issue I'm referring to is that of the cue coming into the body. If a player is using a pendulum stroking motion it might not matter as the cue might stop before coming into the body but many players go into the body some with their back hand which can cause issues with stroking...

When you get down on the shot is your back hand supposed to be directly over your back foot?

The orthodox approach is that the back hand should be on the shot line. If your back (right) foot is under your back hand there is a good chance of a clearance problem that can cause issues with your stroking mechanics. I'm guessing if you are seeing pro's with the back foot in line with their...

A Nit Or Not A Nit..

Nit move in my opinion. I'm not a fan of rules allowing players to win games without really winning the game. All ball fouls is almost a gaff game. It reminds of APA if you don't mark your pocket on the 8 ball then you can lose. Win on the table. The big question was did you win the match?

    Dave Matlock

I've had the privilege to watch and play Dave for the last 3 decades (just played him a tournament on Saturday). I believe the Midwest 9 ball changed to alternate breaks because of Dave. He won several events in a row. His intensity is 2nd to none. His game is smooth and powerful. What I think...

If you league is big enough, it's definitely not a passive income stream.

I believe some instructors can actually ruin your game!

I think it's one of the hardest parts of teaching. If the student is newer then blowing up their fundamentals to develop an orthodox approach is the right way to do it. When working with more advanced players let's say APA 6 or better, then it becomes a case by case basis. My criteria has always...

    How much space for backstroke?

This is a bit off topic, but I read a biography on Allen Hopkins written by his brother. If you have ever watched Allen play then you know he has a unique stroke with little back swing. The reason is because when he was growing up they put a pool table downstairs that didn't have much cueing...

    Instructors

Develop a repeatable stroking motion is #1. It's the basis for everything from shot making, speed control, cue ball control, etc.

Cue Maker Identification - Trini Lopez owned cue

I think there could be extra value to the right collector. I know Trini isn't Johnny Cash but there were a couple of cues in his estate and one of them was a plain Jim Rempe adams cue (worth maybe a hundo) that sold for $1500.

Where can I get one of these - training aid

A friend of mine printed some of these on her 3 D printer. I played around with it and found that though it works, it was training me to look at the mark instead of the object ball. I was going to use it to help a few of the weaker players on my team but I decided against it for the above reason.

Cornhole championship on right now on CBS

I think the real reason for the popularity is the name cornhole. It's easy to remember and remember there is no such thing as bad publicity. To fix pro pool, all we need is a new name for the game. Maybe something like bunghole? There I saved pool.

    Tony Annigoni suicide

I had the chance years ago to watch Tony play a few times here in the Midwest. Solid player and he loved the game that he spent his life around. The few times I spoke to him he was very cordial. Yes, he had some serious issues with the way he handled the Reno tournament. But, I still feel it's...

Next Level Sports (Formerly Eleven Sports)

Just browsing down to watch a Royals game and found a channel that was showing US Open Straight Pool Championships (CSI Event from Griff's) from last year I believe. They had the final 3 matches scheduled or about 6 hours of billiard programming. I've seen the Mosconi Cup on the Eleven Sports...

lol I dont want your stinking trophy, lol

Trophies are about memories for later. I get that you can't eat them but if the only reason you are playing pool is for money, save yourself some grief and get a part time job. In most instances that job will pay you much more money in the long run. I threw away a lot of trophies years ago and...

    Pro player question

I think it might be a mental "take a few seconds" type of break to get ready for a shot that is fairly tough or one that is in a high pressure situation.

Rumor New Professional Tour in the works with TV sponsors?

That's good news, I wish the WPA wouldn't punish players for not playing an event but instead make their events a must attend type of tournament. Not playing would cost a player valuable points and exposure for their sponsors. Players are in a tough position due to the fact there isn't a lot of...
