Can't find a fargo rate on some of the more famous pool instructors

I watched the video of him beating the 10 ball ghost on a 9 foot table 7 to 2. Just based on that, he is definitely a 7 and 9 in APA and probably at least 650ish fargo.

Can't find a fargo rate on some of the more famous pool instructors

My understanding is that Johan was/is an excellent player before becoming a coach.

    Kansas City Pool rooms

Side Pockets North has 4 diamond 9 footers. They have a nice 9 ball tournament on Monday evenings on the bar tables along with a sizeable break and run pot but you have to play in the tournament or on a league to be be able to buy tickets. Side Pockets in Blue Springs has 4 gold crowns...

    Harriman vs Schmidt

IIRC John stated that he would rather get eaten by a goat and then sh*t off a cliff than play Danny again after their two epic all around match ups.

Most memorable shot(s) you ever made

I was playing Roberto "Superman" Gomez in a bar table tournament in Cape Girardeau MO. I pushed after the break in 9 ball to a jump shot on the 1. I was trying to to play a carom of the 1 off another ball into the 9. Roberto gave it back and I proceeded to hit the jump/carom/combo into the 9 to...

Importance of focus / The 9 ball dice game

Excellent post Tin Man. I think it's important to have a solid PSR. So no matter what your focus is before getting down on the shot, you will be able to apply the same focus for each shot according to your pre shot routine. I think it's why top players as mentioned before can be less focused...

Turning Stone - Archer Forfeit vs SVB?

I've never been a fan of all ball fouls just because I would rather see someone win the game on the table and not on a technicality. But, rules are rules, and quitting because something isn't going your way is a bad look and habit to get into especially if you have sponsors.

    The collection

Thanks for sharing the link. I've heard of the Glenn collection for a years. It would be great for the game if the pool community could figure out a way to create a hall of fame and museum. I don't know if it would be feasible economically but maybe as part of an existing room that is...

Money Match Management??? Who are they?

When I first saw the FB post, I thought is was Matchroom that was signing the players. But nope, I hope that it works out but experience says it's iffy at best.

    Worst case od slow-playing

Back in the early 2000's Jimmy Wetch was playing Dick Lane in a bar table 9 ball tournament at Shooters in Olathe, KS. I put a sweat bet on Jimmy "the kid" and Dick was killing him. If you never seen Dick play, he was extremely slow but great shooter. I couldn't stand there and had to try...

    Ordered a Ball Marker

Thanks for the link. I've just used a piece of chalk with one of the edges as the reference. This looks much more professional and might be more accurate. I might have to get one myself.

    Penance - Pool Short Film

I thought it was entertaining. The lighting and photography was excellent. The story was predictable but I still liked it. As far as the shooting scenes, the target audience is the general audience and they won't really know the nuances.

George Breedlove Carl Bolm Roadman Dumped and Stole and It Will Be Addressed

I read this quote in a book by Night Court's Harry Anderson that seems to apply to this situation: "One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack...

Ultimate Argument: Pendulum vs Piston Stroke

I'll throw my 2 cents in. I've worked with several players from beginners to the intermediate level the last few years. One of my biggest concerns was whether to teach the students a pendulum swing when they have already developed a fairly repeatable piston stroke. In my own game, I worked on...

    My favorite referee moment

I was there playing a few tables down when the shot in question came up. The issue was that an object ball was moved after the cue ball was struck. The match was close. The question was whether the cue ball would have come in contact with the moved ball. The TD asked what happened from both...

becue/revo/cuetec carbon fiber are not the holy grail..YIKES

If you think it makes you play better then it probably does. The placebo effect. I had one for a while and think it's a fine product. I liked the way that it hit and the minimum deflection. The color didn't bother me. My issues were that it didn't fit standard to my player so I had to buy a...

Solo Practice vs Match / Tournament Play to Maximize Performance

I think that you have to do both. After playing in competition, do some reflection about the match. What area's do you need to work on? Certain shots that you missed under pressure, position errors, etc. Then use some of your practice time to address those issues. You will find out that the same...
