    Pre Shot Routine

Thanks for the advice Rick. I'm sure part of my problem is even though I have thought out what I am going to do in my PSR, I'm thinking about the position or where the next ball is while shooting the OB. Kind of like looking out of the corner of my eye figuratively. I need to work on my focus...

    Pre Shot Routine

I was watching Jayson Shaw shoot this weekend and was wondering what he is thinking about on each shot. He shoots fast and is extremely accurate in pocketing balls and gets great position. I really believe that doing too much thinking can get you into a whole lot of trouble. I would like to...

    One Pocket Question

The reason I asked was what you stated above is what I thought was the rule. This came up between my friend and I so we asked the resident one pocket "expert" in the pool hall. He said that the edge had to be behind the line. I guess what it all boils down to is get a list of these...

How often to damp clothe table?

Totally agree! I have always vacuumed using a brush that is used only for the table. Then I go over with a damp rag that is thoroughly wrung out. Really brings the color back out and looks great.

    One Pocket Question

That pretty much answers my question and is what I believed. It's like a lot of rules are ambiguous and interpretations vary. Another one is, when placing the ball in the kitchen, does the whole ball have to be over the line or the base of the ball? I've seen it go both ways. Thanks for the...

    One Pocket Question

I've noticed in some one pocket matches that when one wants to take a foul they just tap the top of the cue ball with the tip of their cue. Is this OK in the game of one pocket, or is it a house rule, or something that is agreed upon prior to the match? I know it is OK to just barely touch the...

Who is to blame for Team USA loss in Mosconi Cup 2014?

Why has Navy beat Army 12 straight years and 14 out of 15? Maybe they are a better team, better prepared, more disciplined, or luckier. Who the hell knows. One thing that comes into play however, is Army will take the field thinking we have to win this one. Thinking can get you into a lot...

Instance heart attack..Left my cue at the bar

Like they say, the only thing golden about them years, is your urine. However, on the bright side, being retired, gives you more time to play pool. I'm 3 mos and about 3 wks away from 73 myself.

Instance heart attack..Left my cue at the bar

If you are under 70, don't worry about it, you should be able to control your movements. And I'm talking, all your movements. Aaahhh, "The Golden Years".

Instance heart attack..Left my cue at the bar

About 6 months ago I left a Paul Dayton cue with a dark bocote wood and an old growth shaft in the pool room. Was not my regular player but love the dark wood and I got it from tommie1351 who we just lost this year. I was devastated, I had talked to tommie when I bought the cue and liked the...

How quickly can you gauge a player's speed?

Dave, I'm not one to judge anyone's game, however I think Jay's assessment is what you are looking for. Looks like the Green Room in Sanford. I remember the first time I was in there, I was surprised at how fast the cloth was. I play out of Union Station in Portland. I'll keep my eye out...

    Ken Stabler

That was one helluva hit. I swear I could feel it. Got to give the guy credit for hanging onto the ball. Oh, the good old days!

    Ken Stabler

Talk about "bad ass", they probably would have head butted Roger Goodell if he would have dared show his face on the field. They called Jack Tatum, "The Assassin", and rightly so. Unfortunately Daryl Stingley was one of his victims. I remember talk about a point system that the players on that...

    McDermott customer service

I picked up a D-19 and sent it in to be refinished. Of all my cues, this has to be my favorite cue. I wanted it in like new condition, like it is now, and would never think of selling it. In fact, if I could find another one, reasonably, I'd buy it in a heart beat. This is the best of the D...

Congrats Mike Dechaine Ocean State Champion 3-PEAT!!!!!!!!!

Great job Mike! Really enjoyed the stream. Thanks to Upstate Al and all. What I didn't enjoy is the length of time and all the inspecting of the rack. As far as how one racks the balls or which balls are where I don't really care. It's the amount of time involved. If there is a Pool God, I...

Vets sound off on Veterans Day

Speaking of interesting facts; read up on Chesty Puller. He received his 5th Navy Cross at Chosin and made that famous quote, " we've been looking for the enemy and we are surrounded. That simplifies things". If I didn't get it exact I apologize. If there was a vote on who was one of the...

Vets sound off on Veterans Day

A friend of mine, now deceased, was one of the "Chosin Few". The only time I ever said anything to him about it was when there was a reunion in Kennebunk or Kennebunkport, which is less than an hours drive. I asked him if he was going to attend the reunion. He looked at me and just said, "I...
