Help with my pool table educatiion (at my age I rember more than I ever knew

As my avatar shows I have an English snooker table and before this I had a Brunswick. In a discussion with someone on another form we were talking about rebound and I had stated that my 60+ year old Brunswick would yield 3 1/2 lengths when a ball was forecefully rolled from the D end to the...

When did tight pocket tables emerge?

My 10' Centennial Snooker Table had 3 1/2" Corners and 4" sides: and the balls were smaller 2 1/8" but it was a lot of fun playing 8 Ball and rotation as well as Kelly Pool. My current 12 footer has 3 1/4" corners and 3 3/4" sides and let me tell you 8 Ball and Rotation just ain't the...

    Awesome!

Are you sure you want to play 2 1/16" balls? My 10' Brunswick Centennial (used to have) was shipped with 2 1/8" balls and it had 3 1/2" corners and 4" sides and my 6 x 12 plays 2 1/16" and it has 3 1/4" corners and 3 3/4" sides. Maybe someone here knows if ball size is a function of pocket...

    Ash vs Maple -attributes

I like the heavier weight, I think I cue more accurately and find it easier to lighten up the hit when necessary. My golf game sucks but I do better with heavier irons and stiff shafts so it is a carry over I guess. To heck with the pups I'll go for the adult in hopes of a coat:D Wity- I was...

    Ash vs Maple -attributes

I searched the forum for Ash vs Maple shafts but did not get a 'hit' and also just ash and just maple shafts but again no 'hit'. I apologize in advance if this subject has been beaten to death but I would like to know the merits of ash or maple as a cue shaft. My thinking would be that maple...

What size balls are you going to play on that table? I had 2 1/8" on my 5 x 10 when I had it and the corners were 3 1/2" and the sides were 4". What ever size it is it will be a great game!:D

    New table information

I had this table for a while: The construction was much like a Gold Crown (slate and cabinet wise but the pockets had irons not castings. The Brunswick specs were as follows: 9 Pro options (50" x 100" Playfield) ------------------------------------+-----------------------------------...

What Make of Table? What make of table are they playing on? The pockets look more forgiving than a Riley or BCE - the rail rubber does not go in after the curve

    cloth

I put Strachan 6811 Tournament Gold cloth on my 5 x 10 when I set it up. I thought it was a little slow but it probably was from the old original rail rubber. I never ironed it (do not have an iron) and I never blocked it just brushed and vacuumed it. It would probably have played faster if i...
