Good news that he got the call. Here is to a speedy recovery!

    Mississippi Men

As they say, any pub is good pub. The part I like was when he came off the stall playing eight ball made a solid and drew the cue ball and made another solid in the same shot. Then made the game winning eight ball. That's how a hustler would do it :)

Questionable BCAPL Sanctioning Going on in Wisconsin?

Lyn, I'm not going to add anything to this debate. But what a great word "obfuscate". Learn something everyday here. Carry on. Darryl

She Sharks Final Cast Set....here's the link.

I think it can only help the game. I'm curious where the Hustle bus is headed for production. If it comes to the KC area, I'm sure we can drum up some action :) Good Luck with the show and I'll be watching and sharing.

    WPBA Tour

I'm just guessing it's a financial thing. They had sponsors that helped cover production costs of events that allowed them to be televised. The economy restricted much of that sponsorship and instead of changing the mod of operation, the WPBA tried to keep the ship afloat with the same model...

    What is necessary to improve?

As been mentioned before, I think it's desire. The desire to do whatever it takes to improve. Practice, gambling, tournaments, etc, getting in the mud and playing. I've known several players that buy the books, practice regularly, take lessons, and study, but never get any better. They have to...

    MEET UP Brainstorming Thread

Joey, A local room here in the KC area has been using Meet Up for a few months. I helped them with some instruction and trick shots the first couple of meetings. It's an interesting way to bring people together. The first meeting had about 10 people from various backgrounds. A few had just...

    Mika Immonen

No excuse, this sport doesn't pay very well. It really hasn't for almost a century. Mika made a decision to play pool. It's a great game but a challenge to earn a living. If a player doesn't like the earning potential, then do something else. The issue with Mika acting unprofessional is that...

who are the broadcasters on the Turning Stone stream

Well, I like Upstate Al's commentary. He has passion for the game and that makes up a lot for any other shortcomings. Danny is great but also can be stubborn when it comes to his thoughts about the rack not being important. These streams are done on a shoestring budget. Different strokes for...

Do players that play pool for a living (without any other income) do okay?

I've known a few guys that have grinded local tournaments, play low $$$ sets with a big advantage, and staked to closer $$$ games. It's just isn't very consistent money and a tough way to make it work. But, I know several that use it as a part time income stream.

    Staying down

There are many that play at a high level that don't do it by the book. But, if they did do it by the book then their ceiling might even be higher. Because it's natural, doesn't necessarily mean that it is the most efficient way. Staying closer to an orthodox approach will be the faster way to...

    Pro Pool Does Not Exist

Serious players always get a bad rep and probably deserve some of it. The great thing about this game is there is enough room for everybody. If I owned a room, I would make sure that it was filled up with leagues But, I would also host a weekly open tournament trying draw in good players. And I...

    Staying down

At a minimum, watch the cue ball make contact with the object ball before moving.

OK, let me tell you why you're all wrong...

I agree with you that it needs to be a community. But, there will probably always be an a seedier side to the game. It's just human nature. If you were to ask me 30 years ago, when I was starting out in the game, if I would want my kids to play, I would have said no. This was before the Color of...

OK, let me tell you why you're all wrong...

Interesting article from a fresh perspective. I've been on the side of the experienced player being ignored and thought it was a mistake Those players will always be there and should be noted. I can see your point of bringing in new players and with it new money. Making the game accessible to...

wow SVB forfeits match vs Alcano

I've only played in a few pro tournaments but at the players meetings the rules are usually gone over during that time and they were orally presented not written i.e. US Open and Derby City Classic. I've watched scores of pro events and if they are played under a sanctioning body then those...

wow SVB forfeits match vs Alcano

If the rules are to call the 10 ball, then you are open to this move. It's the players responsibility to know the rules. It's a BS move because the shot wasn't in doubt but ultimately it looks like Shane opened himself up by not calling the 10 ball. Still a nitty move, but I've seen it happen...

    Quality of American Pool

It's a tough game/sport that demands a lot of time in order to be good. The reward is a sporadic financial existence. The players in Asia and Europe have better financial incentives. Government support, tournaments, organizational support, etc. If pool was like golf, tennis, MLB, NFL, and so on...

Congrats Mike Dechaine Ocean State Champion 3-PEAT!!!!!!!!!

Andre Agassi used to do the same thing in tennis. He would be down in a set and kind of give up the set but then fire back the next set. I'm not sure that is the best thing to do but it might be.
