i have an unknown insert shaft, possible to change?

On a 3/8-10, most don't use an insert at all. The threads are large enough and coarse enough that wood or phenolic holds just fine. No need for brass. McDermott has been selling for years with 3/8-10 with no inserts.

i have an unknown insert shaft, possible to change?

While it may work somewhat, you will likely wipe out a lot of the thread engagement and end up with a pretty sketchy fit. You don't have to have a brass insert for 3/8-10. Best solution would be to bore the shaft, plug it, and then drill/tap the 3/8-10. Relatively simple job for most any...

    downsizing a shaft

Question all you like. In my entire lifetime, I’ve sent exactly one cue to PB, and that was two weeks ago. Their work was outstanding. I also clearly stated that I’m NOT a professional cue maker and don’t pretend to be one. I’ve never once said anything different. As far as PB goes...

    downsizing a shaft

So you're too expensive because you live on the East Coast but I'm not since I live in Chicago? It's a shaft, I ship them all the time, it's not outrageous. Maybe you are just so much more talented than the rest of us that your work costs a ton more?

You also posted a question about finding a red alpha navigator tip, looking for help on that. I posted a recommendation for you on where to find them. You could also offer to re-taper the shaft for him in your shop, correct?

    downsizing a shaft

I certainly could do the work and have everything I need to do that. However, as you would have no way of knowing unless you follow some of my other posts, I am in the middle of a move from Chicago to Jacksonville. The moving van comes Monday and my whole shop is packed up already. I am a...

Anyone tried this ceramic shaft coating ?

My experience with the ceramic has been great. I have it on probably 20-25 customers cues right now and everyone seems to like it. It definitely helps with keeping chalk off of the shaft, it just wipes off. Super slick surface. Costs almost nothing, I'm still on my first bottle. This is...

Did the cue market fall apart?

I've done a lot of CL sales, every one with a clearly visible holstered 45 on my hip when I answer the door. Ground rules established right up front.

Did the cue market fall apart?

Funny thing about golf vs pool for me. One set of PXG's and I don't find myself wanting or needing another set. For Pool, I seem to like to have a larger collection that I can switch between depending on my performance or desire that day. Sometimes I want plain and simple, sometimes a larger...

I highly recommend Proficient Billiards. They just turned around a full refinish for me in less than a week and did an awesome job. Not the cheapest but their work is outstanding and turn around time very reasonable. Days, not weeks.
