Opinions: what is the best playing wood for a cue?

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but the search function on az stinks, and I couldn't find any threads on this. I'm contemplating another cue, and was wondering what people though about the best playing wood? I've heard from some that ebony is a hit or miss material, but it's my...

    Cue that you regretted selling/losing.

I had this Scruggs about 10 years ago that I bought for about $800 along with an Instroke case. I was a broke college student, and sold it on Ebay for about $1100, thinking I made a hell of a deal. That cue would be worth 3x nowadays...

Who had the greatest Break in History?

Larry Nevel has an amazing break, but seems to have the occasional problems scratching. Played him in a mini tournament a few weekends ago. He broke 3 times, and made 3 balls on two breaks, and 2 balls in the other. Also scratched once out of those 3 breaks too...

    Need help identifying cue...custom?

Wondering if anyone has info on this cue. Found it in the parent's garage. Seems like an older model. From the looks of the tip, maybe a break cue? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your Opinion On These Break Cues

Bought an Omega J/B a while back for about a $100, and haven't looked back since. Has a G10 tip and breaks really hard. Jumping is also very easy with it.

    Your best playing cue

I agree. I've plated with so many different cues, but my Josey has been the best.

    Buying a used custom

Honestly, it saves a ton of money if you find one you like, plus no wait. And with all the recent horror stories of people getting ripped off by some cuemakers, you may sometimes be better off getting a used one instead.

Known Mike Zingale for years and he and his family has really turned that place into a real players friendly place. It was formerly Snookers, but the new ownership has made the place a huge improvement. Super service too.

LF/WTB: 9' table near Tallahassee, Fl

So I took the wife out to play pool this week, and now she is hooked! We're looking for a table for our home, preferably a 9'. Budget is around $1000, but less is always better. Please spread the word and send me a pm if you know of any available within driving range of Tallahassee.

    Pool table in the garage

Trueblue, I'm also in Tallahassee. Mind me asking how you came across a 9 footer for only $400? Hard to come by around here.

    Pool table in the garage

I'm in Florida, and hoping to get a 9 footer. Not sure about the size but its a 2 car garage.

    Pool table in the garage

No, it's real garage. What I mean is that they won't allow for the garage door to be torn down and place a wall to make a room.

    Pool table in the garage

Ok, so we're seriously considering a pool table, but the problem right now is that it can only be placed in our garage. The garage is not enclosed, and our community won't allow us to do so. Question is, will it be a problem to have a table in a non climate controlled environment? We would...

What do you think the real purpose of using a Sneaky Pete pool cue is?

I have a fancy Josey SP, and it's not meant to fool anyone. I like wrapless cues that are full spliced, and the Josey I have is by far the best playing cue I've ever owned.
