    FS: Amboyna burl and Ebony...

Trouble with extreme right or left English...

I was about to say I've never noticed a difference at all. Then you say this. I am blind in one eye.

Nobody mentioned squirt or missing a shot.

    Gold Crown Barn Find

MDF is more stable as for expansion, contraction and warping than solid wood. MDF, not particle board.

    Odd preshot?

That's how I've always chalked my cue. That way the hand that handles the chalk, gets chalk on it, holds the butt end of the cue and keeps more chalk off the shaft. That's my MO on it anyway.

    another deflection thread

You hit with the same side up all the time? I know people's opinions on the Muecci black dot shaft, that is what I play with. I never worry about the orientation of the shaft. When I first got the cue I made a decision right then, that was too much to worry about. I also thought my cue tip...

    Solo 8 ball practice game

However you put pressure on yourself is key. That usually means tracking the practice somehow. You have to put the pressure on though. Imo, that's why playing someone better is such a great opportunity to improvement. You put yourself under much more critical standards and focus so much...

    Antique dresser walnut

Look like decorative key holes to me. All old mirrors are not beveled. Especially curved glass as it is much more labor intensive. Just like all antique furniture is not solid wood. Veneer has been around a v long time. I've seen plenty of antique furniture that is solid wood with veneers over...

The Hustler / What age? Influence?

Seems I caught part or parts of it when I was around 12. It had no effect on me. My long time neighbor friends had a slate table and we had played on that for as long as I can think back. I probably first had a cue in hand by the time I was 5 or 6. I watched the whole movie about 5 years...

    Home room house cues.

Lol, I know how that goes. I'm a bit more forgiving. I have a shop light essentially over my table. It sits pretty low. I put a little ninja character toy on top of the light. Ninja only stands about 3/4" tall. I tell new people, if you knock him over 3x, you'll probably be told to leave. My...

    I'm a fool/revelations

I used to be all about English, felt it could help on practically every shot. Then I played a guy routinely, many years ago, who barely moved the cue ball. The way he played, the CB rarely had much power on it and the CB usually wouldn't travel v far after contact w the OB. Never had anyone...

    APA is unfair

The more I hear people talk about how bad APA is and all the sandbagging, the more I'm happy that I have no clue about the league. If it ever presents itself around here I'll be sure to stay out of it.

Is playing in a league really worth it?

League play ranks right up there on top of the list of debatable subjects on this site. You're in a stage where you want competition, take some time to think about how you want that competition.

    New game. thoughts?

I don't know if he wrote it wrong but he said 3 consecutive scratches is a loss, not 3 consecutive fouls. Gonna give this a try tonight.

    Need new cloth

I played for about 4-5 years in the same place. Putting in about 20 hrs a week there. Every year the owner replaced the Simonis. Every year I watched that cloth wear thin and get faster, had it's share of tiny holes from burn. Those tables got played hard. The cloth needed to be replaced...
