    Shooting Gallery pool term Definitions???

"Short Stop" is generally used to refer to a high "A" player. That's how I use it. I guess when they say "a local player," they mean a player who is known and respected locally, but not nationally, which would fit the short stop definition I think. There are other definitions too, which I'm...

Need help on picking a case configuration.

Instroke cases tend to improve the player's shot-making a bit more than Murnak, however Guiseppe really does the job for speed control... Talisman cases remove the need for practice altogether. Personally I use a custom kangaroo skin 2x2 that finally got my jump shots spot on.

    Why do they do?

Very true. Pre-shot routine is invaluable when it comes to completing a winning run. It's a little different in my game (Bumper Pool), though. A lot of top level Bumps players don't stand up between shots at all, preferring to remain in a bent over position for the duration of their inning...

VIDEOTAPE YOURSELF - You might learn something

I tried videotaping myself playing the ghost in a few games of 'bumps,' but it's too hard shooting with one hand.

    Your DREAM table?

Yes. But I'll warn you now, I'm a pretty highly rated 'bumps' player. -- Tristan

    Do Pro Players Cheat?

While what you're describing does happen, it is the exception, not the rule -- at least in pro tournaments. All kind of things go down in amateur tourneys and when gambling. Are you saying that snooker players never bend the rules? I find that hard to believe. -- Tristan

Does playing on a bar box hurt your 9 ft. game??

That's similar to asking if playing 9-ball hurts your Snooker game. I agree with the poster above who said that 9-ball on a 9 footer and 9-ball on a bar box are two different games. The real question is: do you want to be good at both games? If so, be a badass and practice both. As a big...

Your favorite game for fun, for money and for tourneys,

For fun: Banks. This way all the shots are hard and I have an excuse to miss in case someone's watching. For tourneys: Sudden Death 7-Ball. Should probably replace 9-ball as the major TV game. for $$$: Bumper Pool. I've been known to challenge some major locals to a cash game or two of...

    The Break Cue Lie

If you break hard, your tip will flatten, mushroom, and wear out more quickly. Also one might like to break with a different tip hardness/diameter and/or shaft stiffness than that of their playing cue. If you break soft it probably wouldn't make much difference. -- Tristan
