    Wood does not tap the same as metal. If you are not tapping with live tooling, the Radial thread design gives the most complete cut and best thread engagement for working with wood.

    Aegis 2 is a chalk magnet. It plays well but will not stay clean, unless you clear coat it with something maybe. XTC is okay but Juma is better, and you can break with Juma.

    If you get a metals lathe get one with a quick change gear box. It will make threading tenons much nicer than using dies.

    If I'm not mistaken, they still do that with some snooker cues in Europe too.

    It depends on what you are using it for and what you expect to get. It actually is not bad for shafts, but it will give them that "wet" wood look. It will seal a finished shaft. Not to be used as a finish.

    In a previous job I have used oxy-acetylene torches to "flame polish" edges. Works well, but I never did it in a hole. Very quick passes so the material doesn't have time to deform.
