Ive tried it both ways (pad and no pad) and found it realatively the same. I like a short tip (about 1/16) so to be on the safe side I opt of the pad. On one shaft without a pad I watch it real close and make sure it doesnt get too close but that goes against my tip preference.

You guys misunderstand me Im all for having a collection but I dont understand why you cant enjoy it. Cues, unlike most collectibles can be used and enjoyed. I think with proper care your long term value would be relatively the same.

I dont get it? I wish I could understand the point of buying a cue just to sit on for several years. At best you might make a couple thousand in the future but to me that doesnt seem worth it. I thought cues were supposed to be played with, call me crazy.
