I practiced a little at Sandite while at Black Gold last year because Magoos was packed. Nice set up and they have a pretty good chili dog. But I didn't like the fuzzy felt on the bar boxes. We ended up practicing for a bar box tourney on the big 9 footer because it was the only one with...
I agree its a personal preference. I like the way both perform but I prefer the feel of the OB. And I did notice considerably more spin. Be careful about going back to a regular shaft when you change cues though. The transition back is harder than the transition to.
Thats why I typically only buy custom from local cuemakers with a good reputation. In my experience they offer a great warranty and don't want any of their products going around town in subpar condition.
Anybody who gets in the box and puts that kind of green on the line deserves props win or lose. Anyone laughing should get in the box with Chris and give him the 7.
Great cuemakers in Oklahoma are the Prathers in Mooreland, Jim Ingram in OKC, Petree in the Tulsa area (which posts here) Steve Kornel of Mooreland also and I've seen some cues from a guy in Mustang named Sean Huckleberry lately and he is pretty new to cuemaking but the couple I hit with were...
I just bought an OB-1 a few weeks ago after trying the Predator, the I shaft from McDermott and the OB-1. They all performed similarly in my opinion but I liked the feel better on the OB-1. I really only noticed the difference when shooting extreme english. So unless you're using that much...
I understand
I was the same way. I seemed to have hit a wall as far as skill level and how I was playing. Then I watched a couple of impromptu hustle matches. I'd seen plenty before. But when I watched a guy I have taken apart several times play an out of town pro and win a couple of sets...
That is a good suggestion. I have a couple really nice customs that I am leary of taking to the bar for league or tourneys. I've been playing with some decent productions with ld shafts. But I wouldn't mind a low cost custom. Is the DP it? The closest I've done now is a local guy that made me...
That is kinda what I'm worried about. A nice looking cue that doesn't hit for anything. I just naturally worry about any cue that has flooded Ebay. I am very partial to rosewood, which makes me even more vulnerable to his prices. But I know I'm missing something. Even my local cuemakers that...
I'm sorry if I sound like a newbie, but I'm from the midwest. I see a ton of Dale Perry cues online going for next to nothing. They look to be a pretty decent cue. What am I missing? Is he a production guy or an importer or what? He makes pretty cues but I'm leary of buying one because they...
Good perspective. Short races mean nothing. Money games are what really count. I would even take a short race against just about anyone. Its the 10 and 15 ahead games that really show who the real pro is.
Really? Anyone with pool experience is questioning this? The longer you play and the game, (8, 9, 10,) changes the odds considerably. Any real time stakehorse wouldnt bet a game unless its a long game. It takes all of the luck out of the game.
Oklahoma
Here in Oklahoma City we're less than 100 miles away from several good cuemakers.
Prather
Ingram
Kent Taylor
Pete Petree
Steve Kornel
and a new guy here in the OKC area named Sean Huckleberry. There are a few more in the state that I know I'm forgetting right now.
