Who cares about pro pool anyway?

The people that need to hear it most and learn something are not on AZB to my knowledge. I did email ESPN and thank them airing the Mosconi Cup last year.

Do you watch your league team members play?

I can't find that rule - not saying it isn't so, I just cant find it. I really don't know about score keeping issues, all my guys pull their weight.

Do you watch your league team members play?

Last week our opponents did not have a third player. I brought it up several times politely throughout the night hoping they would get a hold of him or find a substitute. Time came for the last match and they shrugged and said forfeit. The joys of league play.

What is a pool hall? Pool room?

So true, in the 80's you could rent a building, fill it with tables and make money. I have been saying for awhile that pool is now relegated to a side room in sports bars.

    Pros and the Pool World

There are quite a lot of pro events played on bar boxes these days. I posted something similar awhile back. Most amateurs play 8 ball on 7' tables. I prefer rotation games and like 10 ball but its time to think about what the masses want to watch. I truly feel that if pro players would play...

Do you watch your league team members play?

I play Masters APA and I have a supportive team.We typically play on one table so we can hang out for awhile. We all watch our teammates play their matches. I do see a lot of other teams whose members play their match and leave immediately. Sometimes the first two players leave immediately when...

    Pool is being Reborn

The YMCA in our town has two nice tables and I see lots of kids playing pool. I do agree however that people of all ages are less social and stay at home a lot more.

Who cares about pro pool anyway?

Very few that's who. Outside of AZ world very few know or care about the state of pro pool. I know local league players who play competitively 3 times a week or more. The majority of them couldn't name three top players from the modern era. I really have no idea why any manufacturer supports...

    Pool is being Reborn

Not sure I agree with that. I grew up in the 80's when video games were HOT. You could fill a room with video games and make a fortune on quarters. We also had our Atari 2600's and were just as addicted as kids today.

What is a pool hall? Pool room?

So what is the defining factor that makes a business pool room? Is a sports bar with 6 or more tables a pool room? Do you need 9 footers to qualify? Can you have TV's everywhere with sports and be a pool room or does that make it a sports bar? Is there a difference?

How to put on the BIG Local Tournaments?

    1. Find a sponsor to give you something. (cue case, gift certificate, etc) 2. Run a contest on your website to win the item for free. 3. Put your web address on your flyer and hand the flyer out to everyone you can find on league nights. 4. Collect a bunch of phone numbers, emails and addresses...

The state of pro pool. Who's really watching?

I've brought this up before. There is no connection between league players and professionals. The majority of league players here have no idea who the top players are.

Why (just curious!) do you contribute to this particular forum?

Most of my time is spent trying to be funny and name dropping to look more important than I am. A small margin of what I post is valuable information.
