I would say this is the first year where it is close since back when the USA was the premier pool playing country by far (back in the 1980's)
I still think the World 9-ball championships has a slightly tougher field. This US Open is extremely tough and a field like the event has not ever seen...
I think like Mark Wilson said above that you should reward the active players who are out there competing on a regular basis. Not only because they are "earning" it but also because that regular competition is what helps battle harden these players to actually be able to compete in an event with...
The extension is supposed to be automatic and has been for the entire event so far. He supposedly burned through his extension already and did not have any more extensions when time ran out, and did not hear his warning due to the earplugs.
I would love to see it again though to make sure.
It turns out Uchigaki went into his automatic extension as he was supposed to, burned through it as well, and could not hear the ref warn him at 10 seconds he was about to have a time clock violation because he had earplugs in his ears (from what was said). So he had a foul called and Ko got...
Sky Woodward took out Yu Lung Chang on the A-Side of the US Open this year, it was not too long ago that Yu Lung Chang was the number 1 ranked player in the world.
Sky I think would be a phenomenal teammate and Sky and Bergman would be an awesome combo to send out into double battle as they...
They spun over to the Corr match now that the TV table is done, thanks Accustats!
Welp, that was 15 seconds.... Now we are watching SVB and Bergman warm up instead. WTF?
Ivaca is being a gigantic goof with his rack analyzing. The guy was over Ko's rack looking at every single little contact for about a minute before he found a tiny gap to ***** about.
You are comparing a player who paid $1000 to enter the tournament to a tournament director who is PAID to run the event in a fair and effective fashion?
Seriously?
Nah, at the end of the day.. he played.
The true principled stance in this is Allen going right up to Barry and saying "look, the draw is done, Jay is correct and it is wrong to change the draw at this point. I appreciate the offer Barry but I would not feel right about taking a spot now, I am...
I agree, it sounds like a threshold for the mics or something. On rare occasion it has disappeared or at least been less loud. It seems to actually get louder when Mark talks, so I think it is probably something to do with his mic.
We already miss heaps of great matches because of only having a single PPV stream table. With 16 tables we would simply miss that many more of the good early matchups.
They need to switch to the same setup the World 9-ball Championships has where you can watch whatever match you want as they...
Jay did not quit as the tournament director. He never "was" the tournament director if he lacked the authority to make this call. He was a figure head and Barry showed that pretty clearly when he put his foot down and told Jay how it was going to be.
Jay did not really have any choices to make...
Little Ko vs Corey would be awesome. Nick vs Oscar should be a great battle. Alex vs Alex is going to be a good one.
SVB vs Gomez is not actually a great match. Roberto does not shoot like he used to and SVB will likely win fairly comfortably. If we miss Little Ko vs Corey or Nick Eko vs Oscar...
