Is there a way to estimate your APA skill level

There are always exceptions to the rule just like there are always people that break laws. Just because there is a rule doesn’t mean everyone abides by it. This whole conversation is pointless because you will always see things your way and I will see it my way and that’s fine, I’m not going to...

Is there a way to estimate your APA skill level

I have been playing for 44 years so I wouldn’t say I’m new to the game, I know a lot of the older pros and I know how they approach the game and I know their integrity so yes I’m okay going down that rabbit hole. There are always exceptions to the rule.

    Best template rack?

They prevent your opponent from giving you a loose rack. If it was rack your own or if a referee was racking them then I’m okay with a standard rack but that’s not the case in APA, I have even had opponents give me a loose rack in Masters.

Is there a way to estimate your APA skill level

i agree with this and I enjoy Masters more cause I get to shoot vs others my SL as opposed to players that should be a 9 yet SB to be a SL6. I enjoy my BCA league as well cause we have high 600+ Fargo players so it’s shooting others at my SL as well. I love being challenged and even when I...

What is the best ferrule material

This is what my cue maker said, I was talking to him about different ferrule lengths and advantages vs disadvantages and this was one of the things he told me. He is one of the best cue makers in the US so I trust what he says 100%

What is the best ferrule material

It’s personal preference but if you are shooting with a wood shaft and you do not use a ferrule the wood will lose its integrity where as using a ferrule it will not. If you are talking CF that’s a different story but I personally do not like the feel/hit of CF.

Is there a way to estimate your APA skill level

Guess that says a lot about your character and how you approach the game. You watch any professional they have the upmost respect for their opponent as well as the game and treat each that way.

Is there a way to estimate your APA skill level

This is not a true statement, I do not “game the system” nor will I sandbag, if one of my players is doing so they will no longer be on my team. I do not care what the rest of the league does. This is a game of integrity and if I meet someone who sandbags it tells me all I need to know about...

What is the best ferrule material

My cue maker uses some of these materials as ivory alternatives. My primary cue has a lot of “real” ivory in it when it was built back in 1999. I have been considering adding an 8” extension for long shots on the 9ft tables but my biggest concern is over time aging of ivory changes color to a...

What is the best ferrule material

The OG Micarta ferrules had asbestos in them that’s why they aren’t available anymore, the newer ones do not.

What is the best ferrule material

I haven’t tried other antlers, my cue is a Jensen made by Mike Johnson and he recommended the elk horn, before that I was shooting with Ivory ferrules but the elk horn has such an amazing feel to them. I keep them clean because antler can be a bit porous but they look now just as they did 20+...

What is the best ferrule material

Mine are elk horn and to be honest I have tried many others but the elk horn has the best feel to me. It’s got a firm feel. I’m partial to them since I have been using them since 1999. I have recently moved to the Taom Pro tip to go with it and I absolutely love it.

    Taom 2.0 Break/Jump vs Phenolic

Okay just a quick update. Breaking with the Taom 2.0 after using phenolic since 2005 I can say this, the contact on the cue ball feels much much softer I have amacing cue ball control on my breaks. As for jumping I am quite impressed at how I can control the cue ball during jump shots. All...

    Taom 2.0 Break/Jump vs Phenolic

The Taom 2.0 has much better break control I tried it on a friends break cue but since it wasn’t a 3 piece and I didn’t have a butt to match the shaft joint I couldn’t try it to jump other than as a full length cue so they really wasn’t a fair assessment.

    Taom 2.0 Break/Jump vs Phenolic

Hi I currently have a Jenson break/jump cue and when Mike made it he put a Phenolic tip/ferrule on it, this was in 2005. Anyway I have been looking at replacing my tip as a divot came out of it a few weeks ago and I’m torn between going with another phenolic tip or with the Taom 2.0 break/jump...

Why use a Milk Dud Tip?

I have never tried the Elk Masters ones so I cannot speak on them. I have only used the ones that Mike Johnson makes and OMG there isn't a tip on the market that compares to it. They are by far the best hitting tips I have ever used.

    Jensen Cues

This thread is a little older but I did want to ask anyone whom shoots with a Jensen what are your thoughts of his shafts vs the Predator ones? Personally I still prefer Mike's shafts I have honestly never played with a better balanced cue.

    Detachable Bridge

I use it on my break/jump cue and it has a one piece phenolic ferrule and tip. I have used this one for years on it without an issue but I have seen other types pull off a tip. When Mike Johnson puts on a tip they don't come off unless its time to replace it :)

    Detachable Bridge

It's out of stock there and they have no idea if it will be in again. It's driving me MAD trying to find one lol

    Detachable Bridge

Yes “she” wants that specific one, I had one and it broke and it’s my favorite bridge so trying to replace it with the same one.
