Nice pics. I always thought that using an apostrophe for plurals was a new phenomenon associated with the internet and laziness, but I guess it's been going on for decades.

    struggling with 8-ball

From what I've seen, 8-ball at the highest levels is essentially 9-ball --- Almost all offense. You rarely see safeties among very strong players. If you're very confident in your shotmaking and cueball control, approach the game with the mentality to run out almost every time.

    Who's attending the us open

I'm going (and playing) and will be there the whole time. I got two general admission tickets with my entry. I'll be one of the lowest rated players in the tournament, so extremely doubtful that I'll be on the tables much, but looking forward to seeing some great champions up close. I'm...

    Tuscon pool

Pockets is a very nice poolroom in Tucson. They have a 9-ball tournament every Sunday @ 5:00 PM. It is Fargo handicapped, so anyone can win if they're playing very well. Typically ends around 12:30 AM depending on the field size. They also have larger tournaments every two months, generally...

New Pool Room in Gaithersburg, MD --> 7 Billiards Shady Grove

Looks great! I sure have missed Orange Ball since they closed. Looks like this room is even nicer and about as close to my old place in MD as Orange Ball was.

Anyone Here Have a Room Addition to Your Home for a Pool Table?

Sorry for the large photo sizes, but it gives you an idea of the before, during and after. Criteria were that it had to look exactly like the rest of the house (like an original part of the house.). That is also one of the requirements of the HOA. I thought they did an excellent job. It did...

Anyone with time on their hands want to calculate the average Fargo for the tournament? :-)

I've owned a Balabuska... sold it though

It's possible that he's seen mine. I'm working my way through a large inherited collection (almost all worth less than face value). That's why I still do traditional Christmas cards: it's a way to use 4-6 stamps on each mailing.

    DCC noob questions

Have fun and good luck! Since the US Open will be on my side of the country this year, I've decided to go. I think I'll actually play in it since I'll get two spectator passes with my entry. Looking forward to being part of the excitement and energy, as I'm sure you will, too, at the DCC!

    US Open 9-Ball player list

Call me stupid, but I'm planning to play. I'll probably be the lowest rated player there. But the entry fee gives you two event passes, so it's not an outrageous amount to pay when you consider what those would cost. Anyway, it will be exciting to be part of the event! --Steve

    The International 9-Ball Open

Shane never got out of his chair again once he was up 10-6 and I think scratched on the break. Ko ran 5 racks!

Higher Stakes = More Improvement or No?

My opponent suggested we split before even starting, but I wanted to play. Plus there were a lot of people watching (and presumably betting). I figured if it was lopsided either way then the winner deserved the full amount. After we played 23 games and were essentially tied, we both...

Higher Stakes = More Improvement or No?

I'm a 550 Fargo. I have rarely gambled and generally prefer tournaments. Until last month, the highest entry I had ever paid was $200. Last month there was a $1000 entry 550 and under tournament limited to 8 players, single elimination 10 ball, race to 15. Only the top 2 finishers got into...

Thank you. As others have said, I don't think you have a chance at all with Siming, but it is such an interesting matchup that I'd love to see it happen.

    Calling all pro speed players

I'm a lowly 540 but I'll play you, Boogeyman, a race to 20 either 9 ball or 10 ball at Pockets in Tucson for $300. I assume you'll win and you can use that money for your expenses should a match with Siming take place. It's a win/win for you! Hopefully someone can stream it though so we can...
