A few “360s” in the works.

Great cues, Shelby! Do you also put veneers on the shafts?

Refinish an old Palmer or leave it alone?

Nice old Mod. F! I would do what Jay mentioned. Have it cleaned up and refinished with lacquer and have the wrap cleaned. It's not real rare and I think a nice refinish will certainly kick up the eye appeal.

Ronnie Alcano, Francisco Bustamante or Dennis Orcollo? Who's better?

There's a kid in the Philippines that I think is better than any of them. He looks like he's fifteen. His name is Anton Raga, and if you haven't seen him play, he's on several You Tube videos.

JB Custom Cases - which one would you get?

Hey Chris, I'm still a big fan of old school 1x2 cases, so I think I'd go with the History Series, which remind me of the old A.E. Schmidt cases: http://www.jbcases.com/history4.html Best, Steve

What was your pool hall like Growing up ?

Here's the place I played when I was a teenager. It was owned by Pete Glenn (Denny Glenn's dad) and Pete's wife was the cook. It was clean and well kept and being that the Glenn Family had always been players, they knew what was necessary to run a player's room. Ronnie Allen and Danny Di Liberto...

Saddest Day of my Life: My Twin Brother Willis Passed Away

Wishing you strength during this time of sorrow, Will. There is nothing worse than losing a family member, and I can't imagine losing someone as close as a twin. Our thoughts and prayers are with you... Rest in peace, Willis.

    Is It a Doc Frye??

It looks like Doc's work to me. Did you take the buttcap off to see if there was a penny under it?

    The best non-pro player ever?

I would say Mitch Ellerman. Even though he's taught, gambled and played tournaments, his income has always primarily been day jobs. I think he's worked delivering medical supplies, a press operator and an electrician's apprentice, and yet missed making the Mosconi cup by the very last...

I really do need to drag mine out and get some better pictures, but here's a couple I've posted earlier. This one has just about everything George was famous for: Bushka rings, glitter bands, railroad tracks, seven veneer index rings etc.. It is in great shape and has never been refinished. It...

Did Mosconi use his Balabushka at the exhibitions

I really doubt that, Dan. I've known the Glenns since I was a teenager. Pete was a shrewd buyer and Denny carried on the tradition. They never sold or really even traded cues (except for one time that Denny talked a guy into trading him a Balabushka for a Palmer - straight up!). I think Del said...

    Best playing cue under $1,000

I second that! Bryan lives here in Arizona and makes some gorgeous cues that hit somewhat similar to a South West. Can't go wrong here!

    Best playing cue under $1,000

You might consider a Nova cue. They are like using a Schon on steroids. Firm but soft hit with the right tips. He used a dymondwood insert on his shafts and I think they have something to do with the unique feel. Nubs' finish is really amazing (hand rubbed). I have owned one and used it...
