Anyone get any pool stuff for Christmas?

Got some Kamui chalk from my girlfriend. It's decent but not worth the money. Leaves an awful mess on the white, table and hands. She also got me a new case I'd been hinting at for the last 3 months. Got 4 tickets to the Snooker World Championships Final this year.... Front row too! Thanks mum.

    Explain Killer rules, please

Thanks very much. It's a fun game and great to play when there is a big group of friends. Biggest game of killer I ever played was with my football team as a kid.... 28 players. It's surprisingly tactical when there are just a few players left. And over a few beers it's a laugh.

    How do you unhook yourself?

Kick is always my first instinct, then I look to jump then masse. My kicking system is real simple. Look at the cue ball, then the object ball, decide on how many cushions to hit, look in the general direction of the first rail contact point, start drawing some mental lines in my head for the...

    Explain Killer rules, please

Lots of variations of it depending on where you live. The most common version is with 3 or more players, you decide upon an order of play (eg youngest first then in age ascending order). You decide upon how many 'lives' or 'chances' each player has. Most common is 2 or 3 chances or lives. Player...

    What's Your Pool Hall's "Deal"?

I can't get over how cheap pool is in the states.

    What's Your Pool Hall's "Deal"?

£8.50 per hour for snooker £7.50 per hour for American pool £6.00 per hour for English pool Rather expensive. They do have a deal where you can play anything between 12pm and 6pm for a one off cost of £10.it's hard to get people below a certain income to take up snooker or pool seriously when...

    Acceleration style

He always holds it loosely actually. He just varies when he squeezes the grip for the amount of spin and cue ball movement. So on a stun run through he will clench way before he hits the white, on a force follow shot he will clench after the white has been hit. That's straight from the horses...

    Acceleration style

Once you stop thinking about pedantic things like this you will become a much better player. All professionals across all pocket billiard platforms control speed by experience and natural ability. Some will naturally gravitate to number 1 or number 2 but none actually decide upon it consciously...

Pro darts is still better than pro pool

Lol. Darts isn't a sport, eh? Phil Taylor... One of the best players ever used to play 8 hours a day solid to be where he is. What defines a sport? If darts isn't a sport pool certainly isn't. Both require no physical fitness and both have no advantage of being genetically gifted such as having...

    Pro players only respond please

I think it's worth mentioning that the type of cue ball you use makes a huge difference. The measles cue ball let's you know exactly what's going on. Also, a heavier cue ball than object ball... Even if only fractionally makes it extremely difficult to stop the white dead. I play with an...

    The stroke slip .

Im not here to be polite. I'm here to stop people from learning stupid habits because one guy this time happened to win a few tournaments with said stupid bad habits. Learn to move your grip on a straight line for crying out loud. Lots of snooker players didn't have tuition until very late on...

Practise it first. Short stops should be 12-16 I'd say.

    Pro players only respond please

No spin whatsoever. Like I say I practise these 100 times a day at least. They tell me how I'm cueing. I messed two up. The first and the second. One went forward half an inch the second back a fraction. Once you get them down they're simple.

    Pro players only respond please

I just did this and managed 18. A pro should be 20/20.I do hit about 100 of these a day.

What's wrong with keeping hold of the damn cue? I've never heard of anything so stupid.

Win or lose Sky Woodward is the man

He played great and looked like he was having the time of his life. He always had a smile on his face and even when Albin fluked a bank against him he had a smile on his face and just shook his head. Listening to Mike and him talk shots over when they were partners he got talked out of his...

Race To 5 In 9 ball a Coin Flip?

It isn't a coin flip its just mistakes are punished more than great shots are rewarded. USA made some really bad mistakes especially in the safety department. They also made some wonder shots. Europe seemed to me to play steady throughout. Not many mistskes, not many wonder shots. Nice and...

    Alignment 'Tricks'

So you can aim well, cue like a pro and yet you still miss pots. Wtf!? Chances are it is your alignment. Starting with the eyes alignment, and I can't stress this enough... This is the most important part of the game. Get the eyes aligned properly and the rest becomes a whole lot easier. I'm...
