stun forward and stun back shots

Max draw tip position and altering the speed is a disaster waiting to happen. When you hit with so much spin the slightest of difference in speed makes a big difference to where the cue ball ends up. Try the draw with about 1 tip of low and find a speed that works to come back 6 inches. Now...

    Team Europe's fans

If you want longevity for the sport a bunch of old farts in the audience clapping every now and then isn't going to help. When I look at the average pool crowd I see people on their death beds or with 20 years mac left in them. Without younger people attending events 30 years from now the crowds...

No. But I wish I was it looked great. When its next in the UK I will be going.

    Team Europe's fans

Lol. So would you rather have the atmosphere of a chess match? Pool is what it is. Snooker has etiquette. 3c has tradition. Pool has a party atmosphere... Comparable to darts. If you want to sit in silence and cheer for both teams go to the crucible. Pool, and especially the Mosconi Cup is fun...

stun forward and stun back shots

In snooker we call it a stain run through where the ball is hit firm and travels forward 1-20 inches. It is a shot I use most often in snooker and pool. Takes away bad rolls and once learned is much easier to judge the cue balls final resting place. My tip for both shots it to forget distance...

    Analogy of Pool and Music

One pocket would have to be silence in my view. Sat there, all alone in a room with nothing but 4 walls to look at. Hang on, nah, that's too much fun for one pocket. Its closest comparison would be the sounds around an old folks home. The crunching of Larry biting on his cracker, Mary coughing...

Win or lose, Mark Wilson has pulled together a good Team USA!

The difference is the browns play week in week out together. The players were talking about play together as a team a few days a year. A coach for the browns could get a team playing of given 3 years or so to mould the team around how they want them to play. Since team USA only play this event...

Win or lose, Mark Wilson has pulled together a good Team USA!

Everyone worships the ground Mark Wilson walks on on here. There comes a time though when no matter how much respect you have for someone you have to tell them they aren't the right man for the job when they aren't getting the results. If this poor showing continues next year and if I was...

Win or lose, Mark Wilson has pulled together a good Team USA!

He has a tremendous team. He just lacks a sports psychologist to help the players get to the bottom of why they haven't been performing at the cup and renew their confidence. On paper Shane vs Darren should have been a coin flip. In reality there was only going to be one winner. The miss on the...

    CTE: trusting the mechanics

But for me, who doesn't use an aiming system as such (I just look at the pocket or what part of the pocket, then the object ball, then cue ball, then object ball.... Walk in and my cue is on the line of aim) I make no adjustments when down. I approach the line of aim head on, I don't cut across...

    CTE: trusting the mechanics

Ok maybe for you. But for someone who aims whilst standing... How ever they choose to aim... It is very difficult to then accurately judge to hit a certain part of the pocket once down on the shot by adjusting. Or when you have a ball and a half gap to one side of the pocket... They are much...

    CTE: trusting the mechanics

I agree. Its like with fractions. Its a visualisation method even though people don't want to admit it. Ghost ball or rather the ghost ball is very speed and spin dependant with SIT and CIT. So people obviously just visualise the balls colliding at a speed they want to hit and based on memory...

    CTE: trusting the mechanics

So ghost ball makes people... Or creates bad habits, like shuffling and moving the cues alignment when down. Ok, I see poor players doing it all the time, fair enough. But, how does a CTE user adjust to hit the thick part of the pocket or the thin side of the pocket? Do they shuffle and move the...

    Grip Question

No grip is really recommended in snooker. Hold it how ever you want, just don't let it stop the cue from travelling level or stop you from hitting the white where you intend. Its a highly personal thing in snooker. Instructors will take your natural grip and make minor adjustments if needed.

    Tips of English

For me, when I use a new table the first thing I do is test how the rails react to side spin. I do this by shooting from long rail to long rail trying to get the cue ball to move over 1 diamond. I don't think in tips rather just where on the white will get me one diamond. Don't get sucked into...

My dissapointment with Ki-techs and Great White chalk

I've used ki tech tips and they're excellent. Can't comment on the chalk as in still in the process of trying to use all my kabuki chalk up that my mrs bought me... My chalk hand is constantly looking like a smurf. Can't wait until its done to give great white a try.

Lining up center cue ball and dominant eye

That's insane. I've never seen a cross dominant player play that far over to one side. Its like Earl... But opposite... Quite odd. I'm cross dominant but have the cue on the inside of my left eye, centre chin. This is a more common cue placement. Thanks for sharing.

    Grip Question

Having seen Ronnie's grip up close he holds it very loosely. He grips primarily with the middle finger, then the ring finger tends to stay around the cue apart from deep screw shots. The little finger comes away from the cue apart from on soft shots. The index finger has zero influence on the...

    Your Hands....

Some people just have a natural gift... Hand eye coordination. It plays a massive part in the game I feel. The eyes play the biggest part in the game I believe. Get your eyes right and your hand will follow them. I say the eyes control the tip... They control the hand which in turn controls the...

    The Gospel According To Darren

We all slop balls in from time to time. Contact point aiming is very much a guide. A player can't accurately judge the CP2CP line whilst sighting through centre ball except for very thick to straight in shots. The more angle you have the harder it is because you are trying to see an invisible...
