    Dead rails

No idea. The table isn't fancy, so I doubt the balls are special, except my Aramith measles ball.

    Dead rails

Noses are about 1 7/16" I'm wondering if I just can't get sufficient torque on the Phillips screws holding the cushions.

    Dead rails

My dad has a little pool table and the balls don't rebound off the rails well. There's often a think when the ball hits the rail, like the energy is lost to a loose connection. The trails are held in by 5 horizontal screws through the perimeter of the cabinet. I tightened those up and out seemed...

What’s your definition of “clean” balls? This video raises questions…

I could see that happening more if the balls in the cleaner come in contact with each other. I think someone here measured an old set of balls. IIRC, the balls were slightly undersized but relatively uniform, despite a lot of 9 ball play. I believe the conclusion was age related shrinkage.

    Full Rack Shots in 14.1

This guy really blew the rack up to open in a 14.1 tournament? Half my opponents don't break that well in 8 ball.

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

I like the tiered entry fees. I want to play the game straight up but I prefer to limit how much money I lose. I can't throw $60/week away worth no hope of breaking even. And I don't want to learn how to play a low percentage game that can get me 2 wins before my opponent gets 6.

Why the Best Players Want Tight Pockets

Maybe because I played a little tennis, I like the multiple set format.

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

Yeah, I think you are right. If the lower level player works hard and exceeds his performance, let him have a little reward. And he can be happy about it, but don't get too happy about out running a 6-2 spot. I actually haven't played in a true handicapped tournament. I play in line...

Why the Best Players Want Tight Pockets

I've wondered about that. If we set up a shot on a table with 4" pockets and we both shoot 60%, and then set up the same shot on a table with 5" pockets and I shoot 90% will you also shoot 90%? If shot spread follows standard distribution then it should. I think there are 2 factors to shot...

What’s your definition of “clean” balls? This video raises questions…

I used to have a cheap set to get the authentic bar pool experience, and a good set I cleaned for the proper experience. That reminds me, the first time I cleaned my balls, I was missing everything for a few days until I recalibrated.

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

That's 9 ball. A couple of mistakes can easily blow open any race. I've been shut out 4-0 in races to 4. If my opponent hasn't gotten a 9 on the break, I hadn't dogged a shot, and missed positron, it would have been hill- Hill.

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

I can see that being a fair spot in 14.1. I feel like 2 games is nothing in 9 ball. I guess the wild card aspect of flying a nine, getting a dead combo or dogging the 8 keeps the game exciting and that's why we play 9 ball. I agree. I guess the Weirton I have is what is the minimum and maximum...

Should All Skill Levels Have an Equal Chance to Win a Weekly 9-Ball Handicapped Tournament?

I agree, you don't learn much from getting run over. I do think you learn from playing better players and getting beaten but there Is a limit. Then again, a big handicap doesn't seem like it would teach much either. I'd rather have two divisions.

What’s your definition of “clean” balls? This video raises questions…

I believe the rules say the banks should be cleaned with water and isopropyl alcohol. As most of you know, Aramith ball cleaner contains wax and abrasive. We should probably be cleaning the balls after using the polish. I clean/polish the balls by hand using cleaner sparingly and trying to wipe...

The Hustler > The Color of Money > ???

I don't think Earl's story needs much embellishment. He started going out on the road part time when he was 14 or so. Almost didn't play in the 84(?) Sands Regency Open because his car was falling apart, beats Steve Mizerak to win a new car and several thousand dollars. Ran ten racks in a row...

    Billiards Gambling Away a Daughter

Apparently not, although the daughter would probably be better off without either of those guys.

Are they drawing the tickets like a raffle, or do you know you are shooting?
