    Why is snooker profitable?

I agree that even if pool did manage to shed its reputation, it still has to address its games, which are quite honestly horrible at best. Eight ball is an utter train wreck of a game I think. Nine ball is a little better but not by much. Snooker is very interesting. It's got everything...

Lessons Sergio gave pool players today

I agree he hit some great shots, but I honestly don't like to see the guy that has a five footer for the title and misses it win. They usually seem not to actually, but he prevailed today and obviously deserved it. They both played well, I think the putt missed on 17 was the real turning point.

Not ManyTop U.S players At 8 B WPM

Meanwhile, show up and just completely dog it at the masters and make 8 triple bogies your last round, come in 50th place and get a cool 28k lol. Players absolutely dogging their brains out mid round today and getting like 15th get a measly 200k lol. It's funny you see guys missing putts at the...

Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Yep seeing that I'd be much more inclined to think it's the cue ball. See who said you can't change anybody's mind around here :)

Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Thanks. So, I just watched those three shots closely. The ball rolls to camera right every time (same camera pov). Now, if it is the cueball that's the culprit, you'd expect the rolls to be random (i.e. It could roll left or right), but in those three videos, it always rolls right (as we look...

Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Huh? In the original post and the other one we are referring to, we are looking at the cb from the spot end of the table, and they both roll to the right as we look at them.

Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Yeah, and it rolled the same way as the scratch at the end (to the right as we look at it).

Hohmann loses to Ko because of the Cyclop balls

Let me just say I don't have experience with these balls, but honestly guys I don't even think you can call yourself a pool player if you haven't had a ball obviously roll off in a match, then put the cb on the "exact path" after you're done and it rolls straight. I don't think this has to be...

    Did Alex quit (again)?

Most players put so much into the game they don't have anything else and invariably end up coming back for more abuse.

    Taiwanese Pros and Predator?

For example, I would literally bet anything that if one of the players you said preferred a rigid style, if he just so happened to grow up playing a loose cue then he'd like those instead. Certain qualities of a cue will be preferred by players, I agree with you there of course, but I think it...

    Taiwanese Pros and Predator?

It's all sort of moot if you ask me. No matter what these players play with or think they prefer, if you put them in a high pressure spot with any cue and they've had a chance to get used to it they're going to play world class pool. Good pool has very little to do with the cue in my opinion...

    Best all around player ever?

It's interesting people's view on that color of money match. I personally believe the match proved two things (at least at that point in time)... earl was actually a better nine ball player than efren, but efren has a much better temperament and bigger heart in extreme situations.

    The hard question

Yeah, but they can do something nobody in the world can do. I'm not knocking your job, but let's use another example, like trash collection. Well, anyone could do that, so it pays bad. Nobody can play pool at top levels but a very small percentage of the population. That's how wages should...

    Shaw or Orcullo or Shane?

If those three battled it out long sets of ten ball for big money I think shane would come out on top in the end.

8 ball is like a game of chess

Eight ball bugs me is the truth. I'm actually surprised we don't hear more of the players complain about it, I suppose they don't see it as bad of a game as I do. It's the most break dependent game in my opinion, and when I say that I mean just take the aspect of making balls on the break or not...

8 ball is like a game of chess

Eight ball seems like the furthest game from chess there is. I suppose there is an occasional interesting game, but as far as I can tell eight ball consists of either a player runnng out on his first shot, or the first player dogging it on his first shot and the incoming player running a hanger...

Freezing the Balls while racking your own ?

I dot know what the real rule is I'll leave that up to the tournament director or whoever for the event. What the rule should be though is the guy in the chair should not even be allowed to look at the rack. The guy in the chair should just, drum roll, stay in the chair. That's all he should be...

Why does pool attract so many broken, crazy, Degenerate, mental type people.

First of all, there's no way anyone can know why they'd do that. Second, it is a split second decision. That makes it carry far less weight (not saying it's not admirable). If a persona actually had ample time to think about jumping onto a grenade, I think we could make more solid statements...

Why does pool attract so many broken, crazy, Degenerate, mental type people.

Why would you feel sorry for anyone? Wouldn't it be just as easy for someone on the other side to say "I feel sorry for him because..." it's sort of a null statement you've made. Maybe I feel sorry for you, but I don't understand what my motivation would be to say that? Maybe to build up my ego...

Why does pool attract so many broken, crazy, Degenerate, mental type people.

Once again, just like your original post where you're trying to make sure that everyone knows how much of a "giver" you are, here you go again. I feel my position is one of realism, and yours is one of naivety. As you say though, as far as how that affects life I've no idea, but you seem to...
