Tournament organizer admits he gambled away all of the tournament prize money 😂

That excuse is not nearly creative enough.... A new in-house league started near me, so I joined to help support it. About the final week, the room owner had bad news: someone had gotten into his safe and taken all the league funds, so no prizes. Seems they only took the league funds. Also no...

Restoring a table and room from 1770

While it could have been original, the little chalk hook (16:30 in the first video) is the sort of thing that could have been added much later. It looks a little sketchy.

    Fixing eyes or adjusting aim

Well, the good news is that it looks like your stick is coming straight through on the line you set up on. Set the shot up with donuts. Back where your stick crosses over the rail, put two donuts just to each side of the shot line. When you think you have the line correct, look down at the...

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

I would also disagree with anyone who said that beginners shouldn't play matches, but I haven't noticed anyone saying that. Do you also work on your game solo?

Dynaspheres and WNT Launch Major Partnership as the New Balls of the Tour

Shop lights won't work? I play in a room with green cloth and when the six ball is on the end rail, it's a challenge. One spec I've seen is a minimum of 500 lux everywhere on the table.

And Ronnie wins over Suung Kim 15-12 after Kim has a shirt foul.

    Siming vs Ronnie, C8B

She won 15-5. Last ball off the table is a huge spot.

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

It depends on what you mean by "draw action". The more cut angle you have, the less angle change from the 90-degree rule that draw can cause. A very, very thin hit will have almost no angle change from draw, just as follow on a very thin hit will not make much difference in the path of the cue...

Do you think this wa the right shot? (UK Open, Moritz Neuhausen)

Like the commentator who says, "He's going to come off the rail for a side pocket shot," and then, "Well, he overran the side pocket but got straight in on the corner." No, he was playing for the corner all along.

Ko Ping Chung -- 99 balls in 3 minutes

Well, with the dead time cut out. A nice rhythm to the shots.

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

Most players don't consider a very thin hit a follow shot.

I think the spot is in the wrong direction.

Restoring a table and room from 1770

For those who were wondering about the cost of all the restoration... The chateau and all the buildings around it and 18 acres of land cost about a million dollars. The owners have spent about three million so far in the restoration. Because it is a historic site, the French government supports...

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

And it's important to know the details beyond that. I see beginners try to use the 30-degree rule on many shots where it doesn't apply because they pay no attention to the very important details. A half-ball hit with a rolling cue ball does not give a 30-degree follow angle. Here's a graph of...

Do you think this wa the right shot? (UK Open, Moritz Neuhausen)

I think he could see enough of the ball to bank it cross corner and go three rails with outside to end behind the 6 if the 5 had hung. It's a very standard shot at one pocket. Maybe, in his defense, he felt that the cross-corner was not possible because of conditions.

UK Open 2026, London, May 26-31

According to the Fargorate odds calculator, an even race to 11 for two players 13 FR points apart favors the better player by 58% to 42%. While that's not horrible odds for the underdog, I'd bet on the other guy.

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

Yes, the idea of stun shots taking the tangent path is much simpler than knowing the follow angle for each cut angle. The problem is that exact stun -- no follow or draw at the instant of impact -- is much, much harder to achieve under a variety of conditions than having the cue ball rolling...
