Back around 1992 I left an expensive (now very collectible) Benchmade butterfly knife in the console of a rental car. I did not get that back. I called the same afternoon after I dropped the car off and they said nobody found it. I bought another one and still have it. Carried it for many years.

Also concerning is as we create better and better imitations of the ivory and the skins, the more likely you could get your stuff confiscated and destroyed even if it's not banned. They can easily drill into or cut up your stuff in the effort to prove whether or not it's genuine or imitation...

For protection? DanBuilt cases are pretty darn good. The most protection you can get is an ATA road case. You can have one made to your specs by an ATA road case maker. Yes I have one. No, never took it to a pool hall. LOL! EDIT: This is my ATA cue case.

@GoldCrown Actually, this is an HC-1000 not an HC-145. But, jet black ebony butt sleeve as I said. Vinyl veneers and aluminum shaft inserts. Not my pics, but my cue. I'll get pics when I haul it out.

I have never thought that. It's just that the matter can get complicated. The recent ICCS had exactly zero ivory in any of the cues by agreement of the participants. (edit: I have been corrected on this matter.)
