Can they start playing Call Shot/Call Safe 9 ball already?

It's exactly because slop is rare at pro level. But when it happens, it's usually critical and a big upset. So yes, it will have much of an effect, at least emotionally. I laugh whenever someone says the difference between 9-ball and 10-ball is that 9-ball can have slop but not 10-ball. No...

Anyone interested in helping send a young player to China?

I think a video showing her game would really help.

    Best woman poolplayer these days

Yea. It doesn't sound right. For the Taiwanese female players, my impression is that Ho-Yun Tan should be behind Tzu-Chien Wei, Yuan-Chun Lin, and Pei Chen Tsai.

    Diamond pro cut

Try a snooker table next time. (And then go find a Russian pyramid table afterward.)

I think they just wanted to annoy you. Apparently they have succeeded.

    Best woman poolplayer these days

Her Chinese name is 周婕妤, Taiwanese name is Chieh-Yu Chou, English name is Rita. She is the number one female Taiwanese player, and has done very well in the Amway Cup in recent years. 周婕妤 = slim girl in white 吳芷婷 = chubby black girl. Her English name is Zhi Ting Wu and she is with Mezz...

Fargo Ratings: World Top 35 --8-1-15

Good effort but that chart doesn't pass the smell test. How could Lo Li Wen be above Darren Appleton? Maybe players' performance are not sufficiently transitive.

Best ball pocketer on a tight table in pool?

There's something very special about Wu's natural talent. If most of what you watch is the American pool scene only, then it's understandable that you would think Shane is the "best ball pocketer on a tight table in pool". Alex Pagulayan is certainly one of the best all-round players...

Mezz shaft owners, have you tried Ex Pro?

I measured one here http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=400849 The taper actually grows thicker than a few other low deflection shafts around 10" to 15".

Playability of Macassar Ebony vs Gaboon ebony for playing cues.

Sorry for asking a different question. Mezz has a simple EC7 ebony cue. I think it is cored. The wood looks very black. Does anyone know what kind of ebony is used there? http://www.billardpro.de/mezz-ec7-es-pool-billard-queue.html

    The truth about Mezz shafts

    1. Note that I never used the word "tight" in my post. I said "snug" which had a positive tone. When I said "I thought I had cross-threaded at first", it was because I was surprised by how snug and precise a stainless steel joint could be. Of course, after doing it a few times, I got used to...

    The truth about Mezz shafts

This reminds me of their United joint. The first time I had one and screwed the shaft and butt together, it was such a snug fit that felt like screwing together a wood-to-wood joint. So snug that I thought I had cross-threaded at first. What an engineering precision.

    What rule(s) would you change?

Actually, can anyone tell me the history or the motivation for the 3-foul rule? How did it come up? Why 3 but not 4, etc? There's a small chance that there is a ball near the spot that makes the run-out much more difficult after the 9-ball has been spotted, which actually penalizes the...

    2015 China Open 9ball (2-5 July2015) Shanghai

Regardless of the conditions, if you win, then by definition you have "played best" given the same conditions, and you must have adapted too. This is exactly what i said: A champion is one who can adapt and rise above all given the same set of conditions. All three statements are true. But...

    2015 China Open 9ball (2-5 July2015) Shanghai

Bad rolls and unlucky breaks aside, overall Ouschan played a more confident game. He deserved to come out on top. A champion is one who can adapt and rise above all given the same set of conditions. If you can't operate within the circumstances that everyone else in the world is working...

    What rule(s) would you change?

What if the lowest numbered ball is in the kitchen and there are two balls in front of the spot? Then the incoming player will actually be penalized and need to kick at the lowest numbered ball. He'll be at a disadvantage. It doesn't make sense. This means a player can push at anytime...
