    WNT/Matchroom events 2024

The schedule on the Matchroom site seems to have been more or less completed for the year. Some I've listed as Ranking are not explicitly listed as such on the site. Some new events are listed. Ranking --- April 16-20 MEXICO OPEN --- Stadium Club Billiard, Culiacán, Mexico --- $31,600 Prize...

    Mexico Open, April 16-20, 2024

I haven't seen any comment about this. Here's today's free stream on YouTube from Matchroom Pool: I saw Rafael Martinez playing yesterday. Good to know he is still playing. His stroke is amazing.

    Hand held jump bridge

I've seen some top players jump using a regular bridge, but I haven't seen this before. I think in some rule sets it is not legal without a handle...

World Games, Chengdu China, Aug. 7-17, 2025

The next World Games will be in Chengdu, China (Sichuan province), a city of 21 million people. The cue sports participating will again be carom, snooker and pool. I think there is some chance we will see Chinese 8 ball among the pool. For more info, visit the World Games page at...

    Nobody watches pool?

A common refrain when discussing pool's future is "Nobody wants to watch pool -- it's totally boring." Well, let's look at the views on YouTube for the current Premier League Pool event. There are 15 video streams on YouTube. The number of views of each one ranges between 50 and 120 thousand...

Vietnam wins the World Team 3-C Championship, 2024

In a very exciting final, Vietnam (Bao and Tran) won the 2-player team championship in Viersen, Germany over Spain. The final pair of matches was split so it went down to a single 15-point scotch doubles game. The event should be available on afreecatv.com for a while. The commentary was by Bert.

    Improved ball marker

Here is a ball marker @iusedtoberich and I designed and he had made in China in brass and aluminum. The ball contacts the marker on the flat, sloped surface on each leg. This allows it to work for various sizes of balls. (Markers with semi-circular shapes have a problem with this.) If you nest...

    Insurmountable lead

The parent game of maybe all cue sports is played on what many would call a snooker table. It is English Billiards and is played with two cue balls and a red ball. You get two to ten points per successful shot. Sometimes it is played to a total and sometimes matches are timed, so you have a...

    DCC nine ball rules?

The DCC nine ball is supposed to be a Matchroom ranking event and this year I think all such events are supposed to be using Matchroom's rules. The break box seems to be wrong on the TV table and I don't see any jump sticks. Does anyone know what rules are actually in use?

    A hard bank two ways

Since there was a lot of confusion in that other thread, here is a video illustrating the two possible ways to make this tough, cross-corner bank. The first is with a double kiss and the second is clean, with a single hit on the object ball. Notice the difference in the path of the cue ball on...
