    Where to play in Houston??

I'm going to be in Houston this weekend and wanted to know where I can play. I'm staying in The Woodlands. On previous trips I went to one pool hall near NASA, but it was about an hour drive. There's also a bowling alley in the woodlands that has about 12 tables, but I didn't like that place...

    Bunjee Jump-Break Cue Question

I recently won a jump-break cue in a raffle. I was told that it's a Bunjee Blaster, but it doesn't have any markings. Is this normal for Bunjee cues?

    Preparing for a Tournament

On the weekend of March 4th I will be playing in an APA Regional 8-Ball Tournament. For those not familiar with the APA Regional Tournaments, it is a singles event with the winner of each bracket going on to the national tournament in Vegas. I'll be playing in the SL4/SL5 bracket. Last year...

    I play like John Cena??

Last night at my local bar the bouncer told me "You play pool like John Cena". I said "Who?". He then went on to explain that Cena is a wrestler and that I have his same style. He told me that I play pool like John Cena wrestles. I'm not sure if I should have taken it as an insult or a...

    Loose wrist...

I've been taking lessons for the past 6 weeks and things are going well. I'm seeing a big improvment, especially with my banks and kicks. However, the one big problem I'm having is keeping my wrist loose. If I concentrate and take a long time with the shot, I can keep it loose. But, most...

Do I need a longer cue?

I started taking lessons with a new instructor and one thing he noticed is that my cue is too short for me. When he showed me where my grip hand should be to form a perfect 90 degree with my elbow, my hand was almost off the cue. I'm not that tall (almost 6 feet), but I do have long arms. I...

    Where to go in Vegas??

I'm flying out to Vegas tomorrow and staying for 5 nights. This will be my first trip out there. What are some of the good pool halls out there? I'm not really looking for action since I'm not bringing my cue. I'm going out there with a bunch of non-pool players. I guess I'm looking for a...

McDermott I-2 shaft makes a funny sound?

My I-2 shaft recently started making a funny *klink* sound when I'm hitting long shots that require a little more power. Has anyone else had the same problem? The shaft still plays great and it's very straight. Should I be concerned?

    Getting out of a funk?

For about the past two weeks I've been playing like total crap. I've recently had some personal issues that I've had to deal with and even though I don't like to admit it, I think it has totally affected my game. I've tried to stay focused and play through it just as I would with any slump...

    An 8-ball break question.

This is how I usually break in 8-ball. If I hit it just right, with the right amount of speed I can get the 8-ball in. However, if I hit it just a little too hard, the cue ball goes flying off the table... and I mean really flying. I've actually hit it literally into someones wine glass 5...

Karen Corr and Julie Kelly Workshop Review

I attended the Karen Corr and Julie Kelly workshop that Fran Crimi held at Corner Billiards in NYC this past Sunday. One word... excellent! There were only ten people in the workshop so I had a lot of time to talk to both ladies. I had more of an opportunity to work with Julie than Karen...

Karen Corr workshop at Corner Billiards

I hope this is ok to post here. I recently received an email from my instructor (Fran) that Karen Corr, Julie Kelly, and Fran Crimi will be giving a workshop this Sunday at Corner Billiards. Here are the details. I've also attached the registration form. AMERICAN BILLIARD SCHOOL KAREN CORR...

    8 Ball Strategy

What do you think is the best strategy to use in the early part of an 8 ball game? Lately I've been losing a lot of games because of failed run-outs and I'm getting really frustrated. Should I just try to run-out every time if possible, or should I play more defense at first?

    Joss Shaft

Just got a new Joss about a month ago and I love it. But, I'm not sure I like the 13.25mm shaft. My previous cue had a 13mm and I was real comfortable with it. Does Joss make a 13mm shaft or do I have to get one from another maker? If so, what shaft would you guys recommend?

    Cue for a beginner

I want to get an inexpensive cue for my gf, but one that's not total garbage. I was looking at the Cutecs, but I really don't like the fiberglass shafts. I came across the Sterling discount cues and they look nice. I'm looking for something in the $50 range. So, what's the best beginner cue...

    Which tip??

I have to replace the tip on my cue since it's almost gone. But, I was wondering which one I should get. I want to get a Moori, but I've heard that some people have had problems with them. The other one I was thinking of getting is a Talisman. Haven't heard anything good or bad about them...
