I worked for Canada Post.....believe me, it all depends on if the person that is working that day. If they feel like dinging you for a fee they do, if not consider yourself lucky. I have saw items you figure are going to get a customs fee and don't have one at all. I couldn't give you exact figure, its just the way they operate.

USPS to Canada Post has the lowest customs fees....Fed Ex and UPS are friggen expensive

no kidding, i just spent 125 bucks to send a cue to thailand via fedex. UPS quoted 180. the hard thing about selling stuff on az, nobody believes how friggin expensive it can be to ship stuff from Canada. they probably all think we're padding the shipping like a bunch of ebay crooks.

Shipping from canada to US isn't too bad. Cost me 28 bucks to ship a cue to florida yesterday.

Since the NAFTA agreement no duty for US made goods.
You may get charged GST, with UPS, Fedex or Postal you will get charged brokerage fees by the carrier. UPS is the most costly.
If you are close to the border like me I have everything drop shipped to a depot and go and pick it up myself, they charge a nominal fee of around $3 per box.

I am not too worried about cue being shipped via USPS.i believe UPS and Fedex are the worst. They have ridiculous fees that you are paying more than the value of the cue.i always ask everyone to use USPS when they send me cue.BUt,i wont call the Canada post or custom about it.once i got the tracking number,i am all good..

I recently had a cue shipped here from the states, i got the seller to put the item value as 100$ gift, and its been in customs for 4 days now, I'm kind of annoyed...

My record so far is for Kamui Chalk ... 18 days in Customs.
Previous to this, 14 days for my old Instroke Buffalo case.

Customs charges are usually in the range of 10-15% of the declared value when sent through USPS.

PS: We only have GST here.

USPS is the way to go even if you have to wait a little extra to receive your package. UPS is just straight up robbery. I've used them several times because it was fast shipment but the fees upon receiving the product was crazy. I had a shaft valued at $40 and upon delivery I had to pay $80 on top of that to UPS!?!?!?!?! Thats why I always picked USPS, their prices are reasonable, only thing is you just have to wait a couple of extra days maybe.
