"Issue.why does the format go wonky every so often. Posts are stretched off the screen?"

Someone on that page posted an oversized image.

Here's the fix for it if the admin here wants to install a nifty addon for vbulletin. I use it on all my forums. Keeps threads with inline images (IMG tags) from collapsing cells and/or creating widespread side scrolling chaos from lazy persons that won't resize their images because they think it's facebarf....

Site admin, this nifty little addon is fully customizable as to what size the images will display as. It doesn't alter the actual attachment, it just scales it down for display. PM me if you have any questions. It plays very nice with VB 3.8.xx. I strongly recommend it! :D

I don't think a billiards site should have a "Politics" section anymore than a political site should have a "Billiards" section.

But if we can make requests, can we get a "Zoo Keeper" section?

We already have a Zoo Keepers section. It’s called NPR.

And how about that guy jumping in a bear cage In Poland and trying to drown that old bear. F’er should be shot.

I don't post on the political forum but it's hard to see a pool room like hard times close and not discuss the reasons.

In St Louis I've seen politicians fail a community to the point where a pool hall closed because it wasn't safe to go there and I've seen politicians try to block a pool hall from opening because the pool hall meant "trouble".

what a bunch of pelosis, I mean pussies...

I mean trumps, errrrrr I meant rumps...

measureman is a measured man, seriously. so if something's bothering him enough to post a thread about it, then it should be given some good thought.

best,

John Waihee used to stop in Hawaiian Brian's quite a bit when he was the Governor of Hawaii back in the 90s. He would play cheap 9-ball with the lady who worked in the pro shop and he bought an old Balabushka cue out of the shop for $8000.

He brought politics to the pool room.

One thing that I thought was humorous was that he had signed the bill for no smoking in bars and restaurants in the state of Hawaii and then would stand right beside the "No Smoking Sign" by the pool table and light up his cigarettes and smoke while he played pool.

I liked that guy.

He must have gave up pool or have a home table because I haven't seen him in Brian's for years and years.

Saw him in Vegas a few years ago. Ran into him in a Casino elevator and he look at me and I looked at him, then we both said, "I know you".

Sorry. I was a little on edge when I read that. No insult taken.

Mike

Not saying you like it, or implying it as any kind of greed/move/fault on your part. I was talking more along the lines of it being a possible business/money decision, and I would completely understand if it were.

My apologies Mike, no insult intended.

I like this idea, and you are right in that could easily be implemented pretty quickly.

Mike

On a high traffic tech forum I own, there's an off-topic section for just random & casual chit-chat. Then there's what's called 'the vip room', a section for politics and other sordid topics. This section isn't visible to guests (members only with 100+ posts); IE its not indexed by google and other search engines. This has worked well.....the political banter isn't seen by new members, even in the 'view new posts' link. I run VB 3.8.11, same family as this site....that'd be my suggestion if its really an issue.

I downloaded this and will play with it to see how it works.

Thank you.

I use Tapatalk to access the forum. It has a Home screen that uses its own algorithm to decide what to present to you. It also shows the oldest (or newest?) picture from the thread with the topic. I can say I was extremely disgusted seeing some post from the NPR section presenting an image of a passed out naked homeless man shitting himself on the sidewalk. As far as I’m concerned, nothing good happens in NPR.

Vote

There is a vote going on now in npr. Seventeen have voted. If you feel strongly either way, vote. It’s a Stickey.

The vote/question is flawed. Its asking people who participate in that sub forum if they want a separate space. Of course they are going to say no.

The better vote would be in the main forum to see whether or not people would enjoy an NPR forum free from politics.

That way its not the few deciding for the many.

But in the end, its Mikes house, so whatever he says goes.

If a person doesn't participate in that sub-forum, how are they being "effected" by the content of a sub-forum in which they do not participate?

The NEW tab allows you to see all new post/threads posted and political threads are flooded there. It should probably be removed from there.

Also NPR gets spammed with political threads where others would still like to talk about other things.

Nothing is being taken away. There are proposing the addition of political sub.

Your premise is flawed.

I participate in that forum and it doesn't matter to me if it is a separate forum or not.

I'm all for a "Free For All" Forum where you can say what you want to say, how you want to say it, and without moderation as long as you aren't doing something illegal.

That will free up Mike to concentrate on the Aiming Forum.

The original complaint was about politics in the main forum. And it has been happening more and more often. And its bullshit when it does. It does not belong there. And that includes the funny pic thread, who now pretty much only has the NPR regulars posting in it.

As to NPR, someone brought up a separate forum for politics only. My thoughts are that politics and religion dont belong here at all. But if there were to be 2 sub forums for non pool related content, I personally believe it would be better than what is currently here. And when I say better, Im talking in terms of participation.

NPR is toxic, and most people dont want to hear the bullshit that is talked about there, including some of the thread titles themselves. Thats why its usual participation is limited to whatever the number is, 12-20 regular NPR posters. I would have to count to give an accurate number, might even be lower than that.

Its just like the aiming forum. It got moved, cause it was no longer about aiming. It is nothing more than a pissing contest, and people got sick of that shit in the main forum too.

There are people/posters who would quite possibly enjoy a place to talk about their cars, or gardening etc without having to look through a cesspool to do so. And my comment about asking the wrong people was in reference to that.
