Long, long ago in a land far, far away........ pool players were burned alive at the stake.
It was a long proven fact, that once Johnny won 5 dollars playing pool , he would never work again.
He instantaneously became an expert at all things, and was either the toughest guy in town, or was sleeping with him.
Women couldn't stand him , men wanted to choke him, none of that mattered to Johnny, he ran 2 racks once and only lucked in 3 balls . Katie bar the door. The end

Stood a skinny young boy with a stick and a mask
When challenged to play he simply would say
It's all I can do to stay six feet away

I'll give you the eight, wait make it the six
Everyone grinned as he chalked up his stick
The hammer came down the crowd covered their ears
Four balls found home as they stood up and cheered

He started to talk as he hastened his gait
The man in the chair knew he'd made a mistake
Instead of the six he should have stayed with the eight
It mattered not this kid needed no weight

The skinny young kid ran rack after rack
The shortstop was done, he'd broken his back
The kid turned to the crowd enjoying the fame
Said thanks and good night, Mike Sigel's the name

Long long ago, in a far away land,

I played pool with a gentleman in our private pool club.

Now those youngsters, with no other place to play and no regard for mortality, have turned my private club into their private party place.

Oh no, I’ve become that old man I vowed I would never become.

..... the pool halls were open. After walking in, you always greeted your friends with a handshake, and when a match finished, win or lose, you shook your opponent's hand.

The pool halls will reopen, but the handshake and the high five, so long a part of the game, may be on the endangered list. Woe is us for that.

My hope is the handshake and high-five will be replaced with, eye contact, a brief head nod and the appropriate, sincere phrase of; good luck, nice to meet you, play well, nice shot, sweeeet, ‘sup or whatever is the “hip” phrase said, in sincerity.

...my belly started growling, so I stopped at Chick-fil-A.
"Gimme two Originals and some large waffle fries!"
This stuff will surely kill ya, but I've ne'er been too wise.

Shoot, this supposed to be 'bout pool,
How did I forget that so soon.
Best not ask me to think
Least ways 'til well after noon.
