I just got back and I was told by the "treasurer" of the set that there was 23k total bet. I was sitting right beside Cornerman and he heard the amount first hand as well. Regardless, that is a hell of a lot of cheese.

At least the cheese was on top of the light and not underneath the table! :D

I was going to enlighten him to the identity of the 4th hustler as well. I talked to Tony for a few minutes this weekend for the first time in about a year. Same ol' Tony. He was dabbing em pretty good although he was feeling a little under the weather.

Sometimes traveling the tournament trail can really take a toll on some players! I know whenever I return home from some events, it takes me a week or more to recover. :p

Tony told me that his dad used to be a great player, owned a pool room somewhere in Ohio, and that is how he got into playing pool when he was a youngster.

Actually, Tony is a good guy to have on your team when you're up against the odds. As a friend, he will watch your back when things look rough, as he has no fear. He's a tough contender, and he's also a true friend when in need. ;)

You shouldn't use those lines from the disco era, it gives people the impression you were out dancing to that stuff. We all know you ain't that old.

LOL! :D I actually did dance quite a bit in the disco era, but my favorite dancing tunes came from the Motown era, when we used to do the bump, the penquin, the monkey, the alligator, four corners, the jerk, and hand-dancing. Oh, them were the days! :p

I always wanted to learn how to square dance. Since I am now at the final frontier of my life, I have enrolled in a square dancing class here in my area, and I will drag my other half with me. He just doesn't know it yet.

Swing your partner 'round and 'round! :D

Hey Uwate,

Great report! I KNEW Trini would be there! He lived in St. Thomas for a number of years. We played each other literally everyday for about five years, and we ended up taking a number of trips together. How's he hittin' 'em? Still gettin' out funny and executing some creepy safeties?

Interesting. From what is being reported, it seems like Darren is losing the ahead sessions that he's playing in. It is a format that, generally, is not played that often on this side of the pond. The money matches are played as races.

I have one question about playing ahead sessions v races. How does a player's mind set change when playing an ahead session as opposed to a race?

Thanks!

For those who have never been to the DCC, the hotel has a steakhouse that they close during the tournament and they move all the restaurant tables out and instead they put in nine diamond smart tables (9footers) that cost $5 for 30 min. This is the main action room. The Trini/Scooter match took place there.

I sweated the first set as my buddy had a bet down in the match. Trini came from behind 4-1 to win 9-8 the first set. He made a great out to win the match, shooting a few 8 ft shots with position to get out. On the table next to it Hickerson was playing some $60 one pocket with Jet with about 150 bet on the rail (i was in on this). On the table next to that Monster John was playing some mexican looking dude one pocket and on the table next to that there was an ahead session for 1k with two young guns I had never seen before. Table next to that you had Bartrum vs Bennett playing ahead for a stack and next to that you had another ahead session for 1k. Every table in the room had action. You gotta love the DCC. :)
