I wrote this in the '90's.....after seeing Alex Pagulyan come to Hawaii. He inspired me to write this:

"THE KID"

When I first saw him, he came strolling in,
This kid with a pool stick, and a Punk-confident Grin.
He went straight to the back, smelling money in the air,
Anxious for action, he wanted his share.
When the Kid reached the back, he sat in a chair,
across Hawaiian Brian, he started to stare.
Hawaiian Brian, Aki and all Hawaii's Best,
Were all matching-up, to ensure their success.
"Hawaiian Brian" he called, with confidence he brought,
Let's play some Nine Ball, and I don't need no spot.
The room became silent, as Brian stared back,
"I don't know this kid, but he sure needs a slap.
I'll play you a set, a set- race to 9...
But you gotta bet something, or don't waste my time".
"I got only a Thousand and a very short fuse,
I'll play you Old Man..There's no way I can loose"......
The match was all set, Brian was mad.
"This Kid betta watch-it, I getting my TAD" .
The crowd started gathering, to see this unknown,
Play Hawaii's all time best, right here in his home.
The cloth was Simonis, the balls - Aramith Pro's,
Gold Crown Tables by Brunswick, it's the best way to go.
Winning the lag, Brian's big break,
Dropped three colored balls, hanging the nine and the eight.
An easy combo, gave Brian the win.
In a short race to nine, what a way to begin.
In no time at all, it was Brian up 8,
He said, "Call my wife, I won't be home late".
On Brian"s last break, nothing went in,
The Kid jumped up yelling, "It's my first chance to win!".
The Kid ran that rack, and then 7 more.
"Who is this Kid, who walked thru my door".
By now he was shooting and stroking so fast,
Brian knew he'd get careless or run out of gas....
A race to 9 came down to just 1.
Only 1 game to decide who had won.
The Kid broke it hard, the Eight Ball went in,
With the balls all spread open, it looked like a win.
He started his run, stroking fast and so clean.
This Kid was so good, he just had to be seen!!!
He banked in the Five, to stay straight on the Six.
With the Seven Ball hanging, this game was all fixed.
Not wasting a beat, so fast and in line,
He drilled in the Seven.....then dogged the Nine....
