Old TV Shows with Pool

Nice thread Steve. I'll add the Ironside episode "Side Pocket" that i posted a few days ago. Jack Albertson starrred in it. He was a very good player.

I have looked all over for the Gunsmoke show he was in. I know it is called "Cowtown Hustler" from season 19 it is episode 22.
I just couldn't find a easy playing link ! Maybe someday.

Just about every situation comedy had at least one episode with a pool hustling theme as well as one where the hero winds up in a boxing ring.

And one more non sport one where the geeky chick with hair in a bun and glasses gets tipsy, whips off the glasses, takes down the hair and turns out to be stripper material.

I just watched the Honeymooners and it's just as funny now as it was the first time I saw it. I'll watch the others later. Thanks for the links.

Speaking of Jack Albertson, he was in an hour long episode of Gunsmoke where he played an aging pool hustler hanging out with a younger hustler and his girlfriend. Kind of an old west Color of Money. They played on a table in Miss Kitty's saloon. :smile:

In the late '50s, there was a TV show about a private detective called Peter Gunn. Although the program was mostly known for its great music, the thing I remember about it was scenes in a club called Mothers, where a dwarf (Billy Barty, I think) played pool. He dragged a wooden box around with a rope and climbed up on it to shoot.

That was an episode always really stuck out in my mind. I really liked the show, then mix it with pool... Classic! Glad to share! :thumbup:

I really enjoyed the "Get Smart" episode, though I did not remember Leonard Nimoy acting in it. Then again, it's probably been about 40-plus years since I've seen it...

Does the TV show have to actually show the pool table ? Or can the episode center around the pool reference ?
There's an episode of "Good Times" titled, "Getting Up the Rent". John Amos' character has to go out and hustle to make the rent. A pool table or the pool hall is never actually shown, but there is a scene with John Amos pullin' his ol' cue outta da closet.

There was an episode of Fresh Prince of Bel Air where Will gets in debt playing pool and his uncle has to bail him out. It is called 'Bank Shots' and it was episode 22 of season 1 but hulu doesn't have it. I havn't seen it since for ages but I remembered it as being pretty cool.
