Bad attitude by Jayson. He posted on FB whining about playing an opponent in an isolated room with no audience, he said he lost because his opponent didn't have any pressure playing without the audience, I paraphrase "the guy would never run out in front of an audience".
Kind of unbelievable to me, lost some respect to him. What a d*ckhead !

Interesting. Shaw lost to Hiroshi Takenaka and Lee Vann Corteza, both of whom have played plenty in front of audiences.

Thats ridiculous and very disrespectful of shaw towards LVC. One less fan now

For what;s worth, Jayson was talking about the 1st qualifier, not the 2nd where he lost to Lee Van. I'm pretty sure he referred to the 1st match he lost there, but I don't know against who.

I think Jayson's onto something here...
Nobody watches my matches either, maybe that's why everyone always runs out on me so easily.

As I posted, the name of his first victor was Hiroshi Takenaka, someone who is no stranger to audiences.

Were you referring to Lee Van Corteza? Because I play in the same pool hall where he practices, and I know how well he handles his composure. It doesnt matter if there's 300 people watching. People who side-bet during his games stand around the table when he plays, yet the noise and the limited space do not affect him. Places like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbwEjFUtw-A are very typical for a Filipino player like Corteza. It makes me wonder - can Shaw play on places like this??? LOL

Please read the whole thread.

Also, it's irrelevant whether his opponent, whoever he is, would choke or not, who cares ???

The point here is Jayson d*ckhead attitude. He literally admitted that skill-wise he can't beat his opponent and he whined about a ridiculous detail because he need the "extra edge" to beat his opponent.

Some people make excuses in the heat of the moment, right after a loss.

Other people lose the match, have time to think about it, and upon reflection... still whine like a little *****? LOL

Many thanks for the thread, sir, very interesting and informative.

One small point: in my view Graeme Dott should also be included in your blue list of strong players, he's a former world snooker champion and three times a finalist.

I know, thanks
By blue, I meant strong matches between 2 notable strong players. Dott's opponent was not that strong so I did not highlight. I also did not highlight Biado and Peach matches for same reason:D

some deadly snooker assasins in Judd trump, Ding, and Neil Robertson

not to mention the "second tier" former world champion snooker guys

if they pick up the strategy expect a snooker guy vs Appleton final

I didn't realize how much I wanted to see Judd Trump play Thorsten until now. Incredibly intriguing match up. Despite Trump's otherwordly potting ability, I expect a comfortable Hohmann win.

Will any of these qualifiers be view-able, say, on youtube? Or is there a link to an archive? Every single match you have listed is worth watching.

What does Hohmann have over Trump that would make you come to that conclusion?

Thorsten is a very good 8 ball player, and to my knowledge Judd does not play any type of pool competitively. Chinese 8 ball may be a whole different ball game, but last year many of the pro snooker players were simply befuddled. Neil and Mark did well because they've both spent time dabbling at pool, and I think Joe Perry looked alright as well (could have been Barry Hawkins though).

But I get the impression that Judd is the type who is singularly focused on his snooker and I have never heard of him him having a go at English 8 ball or the 9 ball tour in the UK.
