In your ( Timberely's) next post, you suggested that we associate the room with the magazine that you voluntarily work for although to the best of my knowledge Tom was never a member of that magazine's website.

I personally think that you are an ego driven, attention craving individual that will do anything that she can to make some people believe that she is someone in this industry.

The difference is that you make your opinion known by trumpeting it on the forums and looking for supporters. I usually try to keep my opinion to myself.

Mike

I'd like to take this opportunity to withdraw the use of the name that I offered for the AZB Room in post #35 of :

I'm currently typing up my DCC experience post. Just so you know, I am true to my word.... now that the DCC stuff is winding down and I'm finally feeling well enough to make my post, I will keep my word to you and leave the site. I will stop by once in a blue moon to do what I like to do... be helpful. Those times will be scarce and you and Wilson will have me out of your hair.

I hope that you reserve the right to lambast the IPT, should the need arise.

I am not picking sides but....Mike, you know that Tom was not a member of the IP site. ??? This you researched or kept up on but you didn't see the 'sticky' post about the raffle that was on your site for months???

and just another tip, please don't refer to KT as having deep pockets. That might cause fire to rise out of the short paid IPT pro pool players out there.

Ok, back to your battle....

Mike/Timberly,
I hate to jump in the middle at such a late time, but I feel the need to clarify the room situation.

The room Timberly was in was indeed paid for by Greg, but it was compensation towards Inside POOL Magazine. The room that Timberly stayed in was under Inside POOL Magazine and hers.

With all that Greg had going on, I can see an error or two coming out in the aftermath of an event that size. Maybe he even misunderstood the question about "who paid?" and what you were really asking, Mike.

I can say this: Timberly was there, she did a great job all around and we're all better for her having done so.

Just trying to clarify,
JR

And I am simply going by what I was told by Greg today. He said you were given a room because of the AzB room. I doubt he has any reason to lie about this.

Just wanted ALL of the facts out there.

I am sure there are other people here who would have ran the raffle if they had known a room for 9 days would be offered to them.

For the record, the room offer came AFTER the raffle was over. It was a surprise and not expected at all.

I do not know why Greg would tell you that, when it simply is not true. Eydie can attest to it. I would rather not ask anyone to get involved in any of this but because you're insistent on trying to making me look like a liar, if Greg or Eydie, the only two people that I ever uttered a word to about this would like to speak up, I would appreciate it. I am not a liar and my integrity is important to me which is why I will continue to push this point.

For the 3rd time, I'll ask why I'm supposed to thank you for the offer that Greg extended to me?

Nope, not a slip at all. Greg asked me who was the point person for the room. After he and I talked and I then talked to Willie, I told Greg it would be Willie. Greg asked if you would be the point person and I specifically said that you would not.

For the true record, you were never in charge of the room. Willie was the original point person on it as far as Greg was concerned and Steve was added after Diana suggested him because of how much of a help he was in 06.

Again, great communicating on your part. I and everyone else was lead to believe otherwise.

In case of disputes/problems look up one of the 3 organizers (Timberly, Steve Lomako, myself). The ruling of the organizer is FINAL AND BINDING (even if it’s wrong). Steve is the official “Room Goon”, let’s make sure he does NOT have to assert his authority.
Stevelomako said:
(5) Problems.....any problems that anyone has with something or someone should definately be brought to our attention. You can discreetly tell myself, Don or Timberly and if we need to speak to anyone about any kind of behavior it's been agreed on that I will be the one to handle it and I'll take care of it privately. No one else needs to know anything either way. Other than a couple of minor things last year everything went pretty well for the first time so we don't forsee any problems this year.

So just to get this straight, you ran a raffle under the AzB name without consulting with the owner of the site. And when an employee of the IPT (owned by a man with deep pockets, a team of lawyers and most likely a bone to pick with that site because of all the bad press he got on the forums) threatened you and tried to report the raffle, you never saw a reason to at least inform the owner of the site about it?

Not really sure I would qualify that behavior as helpful to anyone.
There's not a whole lot I can do about the situation since I didn't find out until AFTER the raffle was over.

You think that the "free advertising" that I got from a banner in a room full of forum members is a terrible thing and that the room should be disassociated from the AzB site even though the room was the brainchild of a heavy supporter of the forums.
There was a large banner on the wall outside of the room and two signs at the intersection of the main hall and the hall the room was in. I think the confusion it causes and your lack of support are reasons for the name change.

In your next post, you suggested that we associate the room with the magazine that you voluntarily work for although to the best of my knowledge Tom was never a member of that magazine's website.
I suggested that we open the room to TWO other sites and I never once mentioned the name of either site.

I personally think that you are an ego driven, attention craving individual that will do anything that she can to make some people believe that she is someone in this industry.
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it might be. I genuinely enjoy being helpful and as a person I am adamant about honesty and integrity. The people that take the time to get to know me, know this. For those that care to think of it as ego but don't care to take the time to get to know me... sorry about your luck. You missed out on opportunity to have a true friend in your life.

As for trying to make people believe that I'm "someone" in this industry... all I can do is laugh at the absurdity. If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times... I'm just a fan that used to play pool (decently, not WPBA skill level) and that many yrs ago I lived in the area that had all the action at the time. Because of this, I befriended many players that were at that time short stops at best but have since moved onto pro status. I've never pretended that I'm "someone" just because I know a few players and have since met people within the industry. When people mistakenly think that I actually work for InsidePOOL, I'm quick to point out that I simply help them with their booth at Derby, that's it. A couple of yrs ago at the party in Valley Forge one of the bigwigs from Predator (Indian guy, I can't remember his name) asked me "so, who are you?". My answer to him was "no one in relation to the pool world, I'm just a fan". That's the kind of person I really am, regardless of your misconstrued perception.

The difference is that you make your opinion known by trumpeting it on the forums and looking for supporters. I usually try to keep my opinion to myself.
I am the type of person that's always spoken my mind, even though I knew I would catch flak for it and it might not be the popular opinion. I do that willingly... alone. I've never asked anyone to support me or come to my rescue... ever. The closest I've come to that would be tonight when I asked if Greg or Eydie were so inclined to put the truth about the room out there so that people know that I'm not lying. If one or the both of them decides to do so, great. If not, that's ok too... I wouldn't blame them for not wanting to get involved in our disagreement. I know the truth, and the people that know me, know that I wouldn't lie about it.

Neither one of us has thought very highly of the other for quite awhile. Sadly, a lot of it probably has to do with misinformation from other people given to us about the other. At this point, it doesn't matter... I'm going to simply agree to disagree with you at this point because I feel we've reached the point of going in circles. You can get the last word in this. I've made my DCC experience post and said the thank you's that I wanted to say. I'm finally at the point to where I'm ready to keep my word... I am officially out of your hair.

I would like to comment about the so-called "free rooms" at the Executive West Hotel. :p

Greg -- bless his generous heart -- each year gives away free rooms at the DCC. As an example, in an effort to attract the cream of the crop by way of pool players, Greg provides a free room to some pool players because he knows how expensive it is to travel from, say, The Netherlands to Louisville. It is always his desire to make the DCC the best that it can be. :)

Last year, I was in Verona, NY at the Turning Stone Casino, and ran into Greg Sullivan. We were chatting about the DCC, the designated AzBilliards room, and the AzBilliards raffle which was in progress at that time. I told Greg that Timberly was putting in a lot of time and effort to make things happen, and he told me to please contact Timberly and let her know that he wanted to give her a "free room" because he was appreciative and wanted to do something nice for Timberly as a token of his appreciation.

I PM'd Timberly from Verona, NY to let her know about Greg Sullivan's kind gift to her. She did reply to me and said she was pleased to hear of Greg's kind offer, but that, in fact, she would be working the InsidePOOL booth, and that InsidePOOL magazine would be giving her the free room that was given to them by Greg Sullivan.

Either way, when push comes to shove, the "free room" came from Greg Sullivan -- not AzBilliards and not InsidePOOL. :D

Timberly, tread cautiously when riding the tide in pool's political waters. If you are in this racket for pleasure, you're in for the shock of your life. Do not bite at the bait of pleasure 'til you know there is no hook beneath it. The media is a huge shark pool.

Let the dust settle.

OK, well I for one am excited about next years room, because I am going to get there some how. I want to thank everyone involved in organizing this stuff for the last 2 years and say thanks ahead of time for anyone involved for next year.

I personally think Tom wanted this room for AZB and 1P for two reasons. One it would be a great place for those of us who post on these 2 boards, as he did, to get together and hoping it would help our community grow. I can't speak for him, of course, so this is just how I saw it from the posts and PM's in the past. Thousands of these forums go up all the time and very few really get taken hold of and do well. I want ours to survive. If we are promoting it even just a little, I can't think of a better a more focussed, taget audience.

As Papa Jay ;) has said, people know our room and that says alot for only two years of existence. We are a growing word in the pool community. We get mentioned on TV and the magazines now. You have to realize that this is due to us. The forum AZB and 1P members are making this happen. This something you should be proud of. I don't about you, but when I hear an interview or discussion on TV and they mention our community, I get excited. I personally think that is great. 8700 AZB and 1300 1P (yes there are many duplicates) voices makes one strong voice.

The Hall of Fame dinner is the sweetest and down right most respectful thing done at the DCC in my opinion. That is like the coolest thing ever. In a time, when young player have know idea who Melvin ‘Strawberry’ Brooks, John ‘Rags’ Fitzpatrick, Hayden Lingo, John 'Cannonball' Chapman, Vernon Elliott and Chicago's Javanley 'Youngblood' Washington even are. Hell, I hadn't even heard of one of them before the nomination process began. Through onepocket.org, I got to learn about these people and others who were nominated this year. For me there aren't words to express how much all that means to me and to others. This is a treat! We are apart of this.

AZBilliards is the place you go to for great pictures, tournament information, and a place one can go to have a serious discussion about the hobby we and others truly love. A worldly view of your sport. People from all over the globe chime in hear. That is so incredible.

Where else can one go to write to some of the pros in their sport and actually get answers back? AZB and 1P allow us this special gift. I sometimes even forget how special that really is. If one thing has happened from all of this, is that I will not forget how appreciative I am of all of this.

All the people involved with the DCC project are fantastic. I thank them all form the bottom of my heart! I do thank Timberly and Mike for stating the things that they have to give us their views of the situation. Being informed is important. However, let's now focus on the future of the room and not on the past. Let's work on how we want this experiance to grow or not grow. I for one want our community to grow and I do want to continue to share this experience with anyone who takes the time to log in and get involved. This is only my opinion, and if I have not stated this better before now...

OK, cuejoey wants me to get down off this soap box before a I fall off and get hurt. ;) He's a good guy. BTW, are there weight restrictions on this box?

:) Thanks and I love all of yous guys out there!!!!:)

Disco-man,
The organizers will take your recommendation under advisement (please do not hold your breath, though).

You may have more success in requesting to be the official room cinematographer (though you may have to fight mthornto for the position - but, hell, that could be a good video in itself).

You just gotta love it!!!

I love the cut and paste battles. Lots of good info but hard to keep straight. When you peel the onion in this tower of babel we call home it seems my mind just flip flops like an unstable electronic multivibrator. I hear one side and I am sold, then I hear another side and I'm resold, and then finally I'm confused and realize "I'm not going to reread that!"......LOL

So what do I think? As if anyone asked or cares....hehehe :)

I think the name AZ Billiards is nearly a generic term in the minds of anyone paying attention to the big bad pool world on-line. AZ(Mike) has earned this statis thru hard work and if he reaps the benefits of his hard work thru 'free advertizing' so be it. The benevolent devotion of the volunteers who rode herd on the AZ room at the Derby should be acknowedged with hugs and kissed plus free rooms if all is just in this world. The who's who and the what is what of the AZ room is layers deep in the onion. Normally when you peel the onion it brings tears to your eyes but in this case it can bring all sort of surprises; laughter, chuckles, groaning, dismay, thoughtful pontification, anger, but most of all enlightenment...(sure, you bet Cheese)

Next year, no matter the name of the room, I think there should be a mud wrestling pit. I was thinking wet teeshirt contest but that would be unfair because Timberly would get my vote even before I turned the hose on her...:)

Hello Everyone,

This was my first year at the DERBY and what an experience!!!
I'm looking forward to next year already. I will be better prepared.
The trip to Diamond Billiard Industries was great.
The clinic by Jerry Briseth was enlightening. Thank you Jerry!:)
The room was a great place to catch your breath and hang out with new friends. Sometimes it was a little crowded when watching or waiting to play a game.
I'm willing to help as a host in the room next year or making a beer run.

Warm regards to ALL,
:)

I hesitated in posting this but after hearing several people refer to Tom & his reason for wanting the AZBilliards room, I finally feel like it needs to be said. Sure, Tom was a friendly guy that loved to talk & what better way to have a captive audience then to have a room where all could gather. But, also remember that Tom was a hustler. What better way to get a bunch of people together for him to play? Instead of spending his time, mulling thru the crowd at the DCC trying to find a game and how to approach a player, having a room would bring the crowd to him. Many don't know how good Tom used to play but back in the late 70's, early 80's he was the 8 ball under Louie Roberts. Think about how smooth & cool Corey looks at the table, Tom had the same demeanor. Up until his battle with cancer, Tom was still the favorite to beat most posters here on AZ. A large percentage he could stall against & still beat. And all the while, I am sure most still would have enjoyed themselves as they were losing. Tom had that affect on people. I am just sorry that I never got to see Tom carry out 'his dream' of the DCC.

Ok, Timberly & AZ Mike carry on with your battle.

and wanst he there last year? In the 2 years of the room, I dont think I saw $20 pass hands at the table. What was he gonna score, a ham sandwhich?

If you think that Tom was going to play pool in that room, on that table for 10 days for the shear enjoyment of it and the comradery of AZ than you obviously didn't know Tom.

I did not really know Tom. In fact, the only time I ever spoke with him was briefly at the AZ Room last year. In that one conversation I was left with the distinct impression that he was disappointed that there was not a lot gambling going on. Each evening when I would see him come to the room, he would always head out shortly after getting there to find some action.

I did not know Tom, so I am not qualified to try and interpret his actions, but what I saw is right in line with what you are saying.
