As is the custom with upstate NY in January and the January Turning Stone Classic, there usually is snow. Up until a few days ago, I thought we were going to have green grass and sun with clear roads. Unfortunately, we just got hit with a snow storm last night and into today.

To all the players and fans traveling en route to one of the best tournaments of the pool calendar year, please drive carefully and be safe out there.

The players list can be found here:

Does anyone have any predictions? Kazakis is making his turning stone debut...Shane is defending champion, and playing strong with the new cue tec shaft.
This is always an unpredictable tournament so Saturday and Sunday are sure to bring some spoilers.

I'll be there for sure on Saturday and Sunday as well AZ's sideline reporter Stu (aka SJM). Photos and more to follow.

Ok, I finally figured the Facebook mystery stream issues that plagued last turning stone and Mosconi Cup tournaments for those of us who are on mobile phones much of the time....

Facebook Live Stream Disclaimer:
The stream will not show up on the link in a mobile view on your browser. In all mobile browsers, the link automatically defaults to the mobile (https://m.facebook). .this will not show the video stream even if you have a Facebook account.

First, you need a Facebook account (I don't have one, so my wife logged in on hers)...
Second, you need to go to your browser and request the desktop view of the link, or disable the mobile version ... Here is a page to show you how to do it: https://www.howtogeek.com/176932/how-to-disable-the-mobile-version-of-a-website-on-your-phone/

The link will work on your Facebook account on all desktop/laptops.....

Another option is to get the Facebook App and login through that, go to link or look up Upstate Al....the video will show on your tablet/phone through the app

I wouldn't be surprised to see Grabe maybe pull this off, but, as a rule, I root for Shane.

Yes, Dennis is tough anywhere. I understand he was at the center of a racking controversy with an American player while on the euro tour last year. At TS it is your opponent racks with a diamond triangle rack (not racking template like he is used to).

So will he be able to keep his cool during a high pressure match? We shall see. I don't believe he had played here before (I may be wrong).

Also, team Finland is on the list, Mika and Petri....they didn't fare so well last summer at Turning Stone while their fellow Finland countryman Olli Turkulainen performed excellent. I expect to see them go deep into Saturday if the draw is favorable.

Then there is Billy Thorpe and Dennis Hatch....the 1 and 2 from Turning Stone 29...this format is made for them.

So what time does it start, and where's a link to the actual stream? The Live Stream forum has a link to Upstate Al's Facebook page, but no live stream link on that, at least not yet.

The link will probably change multiple times throughout the day given it is Facebook.

Plenty of contenders for the title, but SVB is the logical choice here.

Upstate Al has great HD widescreen video going...Zion Zvi and Ron C on main table with Shane on table right behind them...both tables can be viewed really well.

Well done to Upstate Al...2 table streaming in a way.

it's usually a good tourney overall but it's usually also suffering from interminable racking discussions. especially when shaw or dechaine is playing
