Tired of loosing my money!

My husband and I just got home from the BCA tournament in Vegas. This is his 6th year of comptition, and he has been sucessfull so far, but then once he has come as far as he has, it never fails that some of us loose all our cash in the casino.

I am so tired of loosing so much money and with the hotel rate being so high for a casino, it makes me reconsider attending again. With the cash we spend here, why must we pay such high prices for everything? I have watched the prices of the food and other things go way up over the years and I feel very trapped at this event. I looked at the rates for the other months from the calendar that the Riviera sent me, and the only time the rate is as high as it is, is when the pool players come into town... Whats up with that?

I am now looking for other tournaments that are NOT held at casinos. Its a no win situation at a casino! Can someone suggest other events to attend?

The solutions:

1) don't gamble or
2)Decide ahead of time how much you are going to spend on gambling and stick to it.

It doesn't sound like the problem is Las Vegas, rather it sounds like you would have difficulty traveling anywhere without the proper funds. The Riviera is a very reasonably priced hotel, and nobody forces you to sit down at the tables to gamble your money away. I think that if someone suggested a tournament in Wisconsin, you would be writing a post bitching about how you "spent all of your money" on cheese.

The question was, where are there other good tournaments to play then Casinos

In my last post, I know where the problem is regarding loosing cash...

The question was, where are there other tournaments that pay like Las Vegas that are not in Casino's!

Making money in Vegas, Laughlin, Atlantic City, etc really isn't all that uncommon. It's not, however, something that just anyone can do. Gambling, like playing pool, requires a fair amount of skill and experience to be profitable. Unfortunately, that experience can be expensive. ;)

Just remember, slots and craps are always losing propositions. The only games where you can expect to consistently make money (again, if you have the skill required) are games where you are actually holding real cards in your hand. Simply put, you have to play blackjack or poker and get to be good at calculating odds and playing people.

Another thing to keep in mind is that playing high-limit poker or blackjack can easily get your room and food comped. That's why I have a suite in Laughlin that's payed for whenever I want it. ;)

Poor Kitty! I feel your pain! You're just trying to get a simple answer and everyone is capping on you for gambling!

There should be some regional tournaments that are at a pool hall. Check out the tournament schedules either here at azbilliards.com or some of the other sites on line such as Billiard Digest.

Midwest Billiard Expo and Open

Hello Kitty,

I don't know what part of the U.S. you live in but there is going to be a huge APA/BCA tournament in the Chicagoland area in October. All of the information is at www.midwestopen.com Then in January the 2nd Windy City Open. All of that info is at www.windycityopen.org Both of these events are casino free and lot's of fun. Not sure where you are, but the Hunter Classics Tour is a great woman's tournament if you are interested....go to www.hunterclassics.com - it is an amateur regional tour - great group of women (great people and great players) - there are many others if this is not in your area. They are listed under tours and tournaments on azbilliards if I am not mistaken.
