Filling in weight bolt space with foam or other material

With some of these shafts that fill in the empty space with foam to dampen vibration it got me thinking whether it would make any difference to fill in the space with some kind of filler. I never plan on using weight bolts, but I guess it would prevent you from using some kinds of extensions too, right?

Depending on the threading, you might be able to find a nylon bolt that you could install to take up the space. That way, it could be removed for an extension, installed/removed for testing, etc.

I've been doing this with my cues for over 35 years!

I use torn cotton balls.

Makes for a more solid hitting feel.

Good idea. I'll try it.

For the posters above nylon and aluminum sound like good ideas too but the problem would be finding the exact length and size I need. I also couldn't find out if there was space after the end of the threading.

If you are looking to dampen vibration , i tried the limbsaver x-1
Years ago. I just shot a ball or two but it seemed to work quite well

Creative idea, Mr3.

I'd be concerned about changing the weight balance with those materials.

Does it do anything for the sound of the hit? (Is anything needed for that?)

I think it is called plumbing tape. It is a very thin nylon tape that is wrapped around bolts to make better seal. You wrap it around the bolt then screw it in.
