Would love to see the finished product and make an offer. Unless you are determined to kkeep the table then good luck with it and once again looking good.

Bill Incardona

Thanks for the compliments and the offer but I think I'm going to hold onto this one for a while.

If I can’t figure out this damned spray gun I’m going to take a match and petrol to their table!

Ok no, no I won’t, but I may weep.

As a woodworker hobbiest, figuring out a spray gun is harder than making hand cut dovetails, IMO.

<=== Still haven't figured out all the tricks.

You've already wept so you may as well light the match, pyro boy. I've got a can of WD-40 you can start the festivities with.

It's been a while. Are there any new updates Scott?

Unfortunately, no. The weather here in SoCal has been hot and uncharacteristically humid which is not good for painting. I made an attempt but the heat and humidity caused adverse effects. My work schedule also caused a delay in my progress. Tuesday/Wednesday this coming week is supposed to be mild so I'm hoping to get the aprons finished up. I'm still waiting on my mechanic for availability to do my rail work.

Hopefully, updates to come this coming week.

Who's doing your rail work, Steve?

Sorry to read that, unfortunately we've also had very humid weather here as well, but I was able to do a few things, but not as much as I'd hoped for. Back problems have also crept up again, slowing me down even more. Lets hope next week will be better for us both.

Scott, good idea using the carpet squares. Easy to replace when stains appear. I'm thinking about using them next time I re-carpet my poolroom.

I’ve been preaching carpet squares to room owners since the 80s.
...a small percentage of the carpet needs replacing usually.

Small Update and Table Porn

I sanded down the aprons for what I hope is the final coat of paint. The plan is to shoot on Wednesday morning,

I also played around and attached a few of the rails together. I was curious to see how large the pockets are. With 3/16" facings, the corners are 5 1/8" and the sides are 5.75". The plan is to extend the subrails, new rubber and cut the pockets to 4 1/8" corners and 4 7/8" sides.

The table is coming together there really nicely Scott. Now that you've reached the point of reassembly, it won't be too long before you get your mechanic over there to adjust those pockets and setup your table to play just the way you want it.

Thanks again for all the detailed pictures, and explanations...they help a lot.

Thanks, man! I'm looking forward to putting this project behind me and starting on my light.

I'll be happy when mine gets together so I can just start playing pool again, but that overhead light project looks like a nice idea, for sure.

HI Scott, Are you going to make your light exactly like the Brunswicks? I've been thinking about making one also. I believe the sides taper at 12degrees and of course the corners are at a 45. I haven't drawn plans but if you're going this way would you post the actual dimensions? I'm planning on using two 2x4 LED panels. My table is a GC III so the mahogany color would be a natural choice. I don't know the history of those table lights but I've never seen one in the GC I blue or orange. Whacha gonna do?? Mitch

Hey Mitch. The Brunswick lights that are available have sides that are perpendicular to the top which, IMO does not match the table. The plan is to mimic the inward angle of the table aprons. The dimensions of the diffuser panel (bottom) will be 97” x 30”. Everything will be built around that. I have templates for the side panels to accommodate those dimensions (using my aprons as a guide) but can’t recall the overall length. I’m toying around with the idea of finding and using 8’ GC1 aprons. If I do that, the light will be slightly longer and I’ll have to adjust the dimensions of the diffuser panel. More to come!
