3/8x10 joint problems with wood shafts?

I'm thinking of getting a McDermott, and was wondering...does anybody know of any problems resulting from stainless steel butt joints going into threaded wood shafts? I know the 3/8x10 joint has been around a long time but most cue manufacturers use some kind of metal inserts in their shafts, so I was wondering if there are any durability problems over time?
Thanks for your feedback.

I use beeswax on all my threads as a preventative measure.

40+ years of threaded wood shafts.
I'm sure we would have heard of a problem by now.

I have a McDermott that is over 30 years old and have had no problems. I've shot thousands, upon thousands, or games with it and have broken the balls with it thousands of times. Still like new.
