I found a "surprise" in a butt once and it cost me $175

More than the POS cue was worth.

No kidding?
Sometimes they leave drill bits in there.
Stacking set screws was a popular practice too.
Use earth magnets next time to detect them.
Sorry about your drill.
Send it to sterling and get it rebrazed.

New buckhorn joints

Weight reduced successfully accompanied with new buckhorn buttcap and Joint. Not perfect, but there were many lessons learned in the transition. Life is good!

If that is truly Goncalo Alves,then I have 4 butt blanks on hand that I harvested from broke or repurposed house cues that look just like the butt in the original post ;).

They would ALL need help to get up to what I'd consider a playable weight,meaning that 2 of them were 17oz and 2 were 18oz one piece cues with no weight bolt. The joint diameters are all .860ish and around 1.250.

The plan is a SS FB pin out front and something else in the rear :grin:. Tommy D.
