Billy Thorpe tops Shane 8-5. Shane surprisingly passed on a 4-5 combo with a chance to tie the match at 6-6 and played a safety. Left Billy a good look at a jump and Billy made it happen at the defining moment of the match.

Definitely the defining moment of the match. Shane need to get that cueball closer to the 5. I think he passed on the 4-5 combination because he had a funny angle where controlling the 4 ball was going to be difficult.

I wonder why 64 players. Does anyone know for certain?

Even with the same 100k added, if they had 96 or 128 players, they would have still had a full field.

I wonder if it was a space and/or time constraint at the chosen venue that limited the field.

That is puzzling $100K question. Recent Diamond Open they targeted 128 (actual 106) so it is not space or time issue. That was 4 days and this is 5 days

But all the replays are on youtube.

I like this... the replay is available immediately after the live stream. I guess this is what happens when you piggyback your stream on the big boys youtube?

Pluses and Minuses:
-real "pro" players event. Either invited or qualify by winning qualifiers.
Average Fargo (excluding a few dead money sent by their federations) 780
-Free live stream

- slightly weaker field compared to recent World 9 Ball championships (W9B) and US Open
-smaller field of 64 for World Championship makes this slightly easier to win. Typically, W9B is 128 field. Recent US Open was around 256 field.
