I agree 1000%.

John is a little older but, I'm pretty sure he "knows" he is a better player today "because of" and "inspite" all the "uphill battles" that he has faced "head on" and didn't give up when most all mortals would have.

He'll carry ^^^^^^ with him to his grave. Today, John is not just a different player, he's a different person.
