Why isn't spalted maple used more in cues?

Just check out Bob Owen’s amazing work..........spalted wood is one of his specialties....several in the Cue Gallery.

We have a good bit of sycamore down here of course no good maple but that spalting actually help reduce some of the stresses if done properly, it’s easy here due to the high moisture and mild to hot temps

I have built a few spalted cues and have had great results . I do stabilize & core all my spalted wood. I have used both spalted Maple & spalted Pecan.
