Their description is weird.

The correct tap is 1/2"x12 I think, contact them for confirmation

The thread pitch is 14/inch. So Im pretty sure its 7/16-14 tap.

Their description is more than weird...its wrong and useless!

The above did not said anything about 7/16-14 tap. 7/16 inch for lip.

As I said in my original post...I purchased a 12-1.25mm tap and its wrong! The thread pitch on the insert OD is for 14tpi. The information on their webpage is flat wrong!

Try a 12x1.75mm tap.
The minor is .430 so a 7/16 drill may be used.
If that's too tight go to an 8.2mm drill (.440").
About their only printed mistake is the tap pitch, 1.75mm not 1.25mm.
And to think I did all that without resorting to exclamation marks.
Amazing. Lol

Gotta have a little fun.

Look, Schmelke is a good company and anyone can make a 'typo'.
Schmelke doesn't make these inserts. It's possible they have more than one source.
I'm guessing but I don't believe that a lot of CMs buy their inserts from Schmelke.
That type obviously requires a metric tap and it's OD is larger than what I prefer.
The link that Joey posted.........is a good source. All SAE tooling to install.
I don't know that they are so much into onesies and twosies but if you want 100
or so, they are my preferred supplier.

I have bought inserts from Schmelke and I still do to this day.
I had a similar bit of confusion on a particular insert so I know what advice to offer.
I now have the tooling to install this 'special' insert as easily as any other.

I don't know if you're planning on getting into this game or if it's a 1-time project.
If you're planning on doing this again, a pitch gage (SAE & MM) and a decent set of calipers
will negate you ever having to ask this question again.
