I agree for the most part that most chalks are more or less the same...
Masters, Blue Diamond, Predator, OB, Mezz etc.

BUT 3 Chalks Stand out from the Pack!

#1) G2 Chalk (This stuff grabs a hold of whitey like Miles Davis!!)
#2) Toam Chalk (goes on hard and stays there!)
&
#3 Magic Chalk (It's the best of the above Masters Type Chalks!)

Also Check out Corley's Magnetic Chalk Clamp Holder, HANG ON TO YOUR PRICEY CHALK!
ALSO ALL ABOVE CHALKS HOLD BETTER TO... Precision Tips by Sir Dennis Searing of the 4th Degree!

A poor man's comparison of Predator, Master, and Brunswick Blue Chalks......

Brunswick chalk is usable, and is very similar to Master, However, Master gives me slightly better tip coverage. Master works well, and is so inexpensive for a box of 12, why use any other chalk in its price range?

The good comparison is between Predator and Master. I can take more shots after chalking with Predator chalk. 4 to 6 shots, with confidence, every time. I can get 2 to 3 shots with Master chalk.

I like both brands. If I was playing for money, I'd use Predator chalk. Predator goes in my cue case. Master stays out for everyone at the table. Nothing wrong with Master. Nobody complains about using Blue Master, unless their felt isn't Blue.

Just a poor man's opinion. I am still curious about other chalks, though.

Uh Oh! There's a new Chalk in Town!

I'm changing my top 3 to:
#1 Kamuai's Roku Chalk ( I never liked any of there products before)
#2 Toam's new Pyro Chalk
#3 G2

So just a slight change, and one newcomer!
That's great White is Awesome but messy, big chunks tend to fall off!

Honestly the only thing that matters to me is how it feels on the tip and how messy it is. Chalk won't make the difference between a good hit or a miscue.

Buying expensive chalk is just one more way to waste money unless a person doesn't chalk every shot or two.

If you chalk every shot, well, masters will work as good as "any" brand. If masters don't get you there, well, lol....it's "you", not the chalk.

I agree about chalk not making a difference about how well a ball is stoked. I've saw 50k dollar sets played with masters chalk.

I can guarantee the chalk didn't have anything to do with the outcome.

If wich chalk you use effects your game, you need lessons IMO.

I would like to add that if Im chalking on my table. I would rather find something that holds for a few shots instead of reloading the tip for every shot. Chalking the tip makes for a dirtier table which means dirtier hands and more vacuuming. In this case, less is more, Go Russian chalk. My 2cents

I never really payed attention to chalk and been using master chalk at home since forever (bought a gross for like 15 bucks). However I started playing leagues and hated how my hand looked like a smurf after a few games.

So I bought some magic chalk to try and WOW what a difference. No more smurf hand. I also noticed it stuck to my breaking cue (with Phenolic tip) much better than Master Chalk did. As expected I didn't notice any difference on my playing cue though. I am not a good enough player to notice if there was a difference.

Chalk is a very intresting subject. Master & Triangle are made by same people.

I like Master Green, and if I CHALK each time I hit a Cue Ball, I do not Mis-Cue.

Master GREEN is all you need, and memory to use chalk.

10000% Its a good habit to look over your shot and chalk every single shot. How many Professionals dont chalk every shot???
