Weight bolt stuck on old McDermott

I have an old D-21 McDermott that has the
old style weight bolt. I want to remove it and
put a lighter one in. So far it won't budge. I've
tried WD-40 and and the largest flathead screw
driver I have. What else could I try that won't
damage the cue?

This wieght bolt has been in the cue since the
mid-80s without ever being removed. Is there a
chance it got some moisture in it and is rusted?

Thanks

It is possible that some type of cement contacted the weight bolt. Heat can be applied directly to the head of the weight bolt using a pointed soldering iron. Be careful. They get very hot and could potentially bother the butt cap. Heat a little, try a little. Good luck.

I have had luck clamping a large screw driver in the vise and twisting the cue instead of trying to unscrew the weight bolt with screw driver.... You can get a lot more torque that way...

A vise with soft jaws and a big screwdriver. Heat if that wont work. No wd40 ever!
