I am starting to take orders for building a cue....

Man oh man, what a coincidence. I just started building cue lathes and recently finished my first one. If you'd be so kind as to send cash, you could be well on your way to building your first cue by next week.

PS - Did your mom say it was okay to make all that noise in the house?

I think you should contact NIKE, and see if you can be in charge of their new pool cue division. Seems like a perfect fit, as neither one of you make, or have ever made pool cues!

Well, at least you're being up front about your experience! This forum has been the home of more than a few brand new cuemakers who just started making cues and getting their nuthangers to repeatedly say how fantastic their cues played! Nice! Show some photos and speak lots of cuelingo when you have one to show!

Can I send you $5 for a deposit on my first cue?
I am sure it will be money well spent but I can't imagine that your first cues will be worth much more than that.

I know you're just being facetious with this post but what you are essentially doing is giving all custom cue makers a slap in the face.

True that some makers are habituals for not meeting deadlines and less than stellar customer service. But most are not and make their deadlines given a week or maybe a month or two which still isn't bad.

You're painting the majority of makers with a very broad brush here. Many of the makers have jobs and family responsibilities
that come before deadlines.

I just do repairs and dabble with building. With a job, I sometimes have to double time it just to keep up with promised dates.
I work at a hospital with all sorts of different shifts and hours. Many times I come home whupped from the day and would rather have a couple of beer and read AZ rather than work on cues. But, people need their cues and if I make a promise, I am always on time no matter what the inconvenience otherwise my name is crap. I walk an average of 7 miles a day at work. Try doing that and wanting to stand on your feet for another couple of hours in front of a lathe.

But, I wouldn't expect much more from a person such as yourself that condones the thieving of other peoples pool cues.

Actually, some of the greats just bought a lathe and started making great cues pretty much right off the bat.

The names Janes and Stroud come to mind.

.

Please don't encourage him by this extremely misleading statement.

I don't wish him good luck.

Sorry, I gotta respond to the troll too...

I am starting to research alchemy and should begin transmuting lead into gold in less than a year. Please send me deposits on your gold ingots now, as not only is the price of gold skyrocketing, but I need some money to begin my researching endeavors.

If I find out that I completely suck at alchemy, I swear that I will refund your deposits.

This is a much better deal than the OP, as he said he needed the deposits just to buy the equipment. Which of course means he could find out he builds crap ass cues and the 10 grand in deposits he used to break into the business is gone.

waste

Everything that is posted by this gentleman (?) is a waste of bandwith. I understand it is an open forum, but come on. I came to this forum to learn things, and all it is anymore is a bunch of BS. I would rather read the aiming thread, even though Champ and Neil are on opposite sides of the coin as myself, I believe they are smart individuals who argue their beliefs very well, and maybe they are right and I am wrong, but this guy., makes me want to quit reading.

Can't we get some solid information?

Never get out of the boat
been listening to and loving rock and roll nearly my whole life.

now that I'm in my mid-fifties, I'm thinking it's time to stop daydreaming about it and make it happen.

my becoming a rock star will benefit all of my az friends, too. here's how:

i've had my eye on a paul reed smith guitar just like the one Carlos Santana plays and I know with that axe and some music lessons, there will be no stopping me from realizing my dream.

in order to set this dream into motion, I am going to allow my az friends to pre order my inevitable first cd. and to be honest, I'm so sure about this and so excited, I've already bought a pair of black spandex pants with the day-glo green lightning bolts going down each leg.

I haven't chosen which music teacher I will study with but I looked in the yellow pages and it appears there are four who teach guitar right here in my town, alone.

Please send $14.99 to my paypal and that will include shipping to CONUS. Add $2 for other parts of the world with the following two exceptions. Unfortunately, I will not ship to either Somalia or Nigeria, however, this may change by the time the cd is ready to ship as it will undoubtedly be a changed world by then.

I want to thank you all well in advance for your support in helping to make my dream of becoming a rock star a reality.

does anyone know which picks are considered to be the absolute best?

I don't want anything to go wrong.

best,
brian kc

anyone can be be a cannon barrel maker if they have a garage.

Make sure you get their deposit and give them a long delivery time.

If you still dont have the equipment, why dont you rent it or work in someone else's workshop. I'm not saying that you don't have ability, as I have never seen a sample of your work. Why not post it after you get what you need. I think you need some ingenuity if you want to get orders.
